International supermodel, activist and philanthropist, Naomi Campbell, has come to the end of her “No Filter with Naomi” series and for the finale, she sat down with award-winning Nigerian-American YouTuber Jackie Aina and they definitely had a good chat as they did their makeup together.
The YouTube series has had guests such as Diddy, Cindy Crawford, Adut Akech, Venus and Serena Williams, Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton and Lee Daniels.
Here are the 5 things Jackie revealed…
#1. From pre-med to the army
For her sit down with Naomi Campbell, Jackie Aina revealed that she wanted to be a pharmacist and so ended up spending two years in college studying biochemistry before realizing that wasn’t a path she wanted anymore and then joined the army after being advised to do so by her then-boyfriend.
#2. First YouTuber to receive an NAACP Image Award
Being artistically inclined since childhood, it’s no surprise Jackie fell in love with the beauty industry and started her YouTube channel in 2009. The rest as we know it is history. By doing what she loves the most, Jackie Aina became the first-ever YouTuber to receive an NAACP Image Award for YouTuber of the Year in 2018.
#3. Special invitation to the YouTube table at the 2020 Met Ball
Still on the subject of YouTube, Naomi Campbell informed Jackie Aina that she had been invited to sit at the YouTube table at the Met Ball 2020. The invitation was by Derek Blasberg, the head of fashion and beauty partnerships at YouTube. However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Met Ball has been postponed.
#4. Jackie Aina graces the cover of The Knot magazine
Naomi Campbell made a second big reveal to the fans when she mentioned that Jackie Aina is on the cover of The Knot bridal magazine. This would make Jackie, who’s currently engaged to be married, the first black influencer to grace the magazine’s cover. #Major!
#5. Beauty routines during the quarantine
When asked about her beauty routines during this lockdown period, Jackie revealed that she relies on face masks at night and swears by hyaluronic acid during the day. Seeing as she has oily skin, she does not have to moisturise as often as those with dry skin. Jackie Aina and Naomi Campbell
The ladies finished off with Naomi giving tips on natural face masks that can be whipped up with kitchen ingredients like baking soda, turmeric, lemon juice, brown sugar, honey, milk and more. Finally, in not so many words, Jackie Aina hinted that she just might be working on her own makeup line. #goalsanyone?
