2Baba And Tiwa Savage Switch Songs, Wizkid Comes Back On Scene + More African Songs To Groove To This Weekend

Every week, we highlight some of the hottest new songs on the music scene. This week is no different as we have some of the best Nigerian, Ghanaian, and South African artistes entertaining us through the weekend with new songs.

Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage and 2Baba are the latest set of artistes to take on each other’s songs. The internationally known artists participated in an XSwitch Challenge hosted by the Nigerian-based music streaming service uduX. It was a very entertaining exchange between two of Nigeria’s biggest artistes in the midst of the global pandemic. All over social media, fans expressed just how pleased they were.

South African musical powerhouses Nasty C and Rowlene came together for another powerful song, I need you, which serves as one of the soundtracks to the new Netflix series, Blood and Water.

#1. 2Baba – Tiwa Savage’s songs (X-Switch challenge)

Musical pioneer, 2Baba showed deep appreciation to Tiwa Savage and her extensive catalog in his virtual set. He performed Tiwa’s Lova Lova, and All Over which he named as his favorite Savage track as well as his own songs For Instance, Amaka and more.

#2. Tiwa Savage – 2Baba’s songs (X-Switch challenge)

For her set, Tiwa Savage sang 2Baba’s Ihe Neme, Only Me, and Be There with the support of three back-up singers and a band. She also performed a moving version of Bob Marley and The Wailers’ 1977 classic Wait In Vain towards the end of her performance.

#3. Nasty C and Rowlene – I need you

Nasty C and Rowlene team up for another emotional duet that perfectly blends hip-hop and RnB over a bass line that meets both genres halfway. In I Need You, Nasty C admits he needs his lover after reflecting on betrayal from friends and accomplices. The song is part of the soundtrack compilation for the South African Netflix Original series Blood & Water, which premiered earlier this week.

#4. Dremo ft Davido – Mabel

DMW artiste Dremo has just dropped the music video for his latest song titled Mabel. He enlists the help of Davido for the laid-back and romantic music video. On Mabel, Dremo and Davido sing about a love interest called Mabel who they are clearly infatuated with.

#5. M.anifest ft Kelvyn Boy and Kel P – We no dey hear

Ace Ghanaian Hip-Hop artist M.anifest encourages resilience in the audio and video of his new single, We No Dey Hear featuring Ghanaian singer Kelvyn Boy and Grammy-nominated Nigerian producer, Kel P. We No Dey Hear has an undeniable feel-good vibe to uplift the mood in these uncertain times.

#6. Yung L ft Wizkid – Eve Bounce remix

Wizkid joins Yung L on the colourful new song Eve Bounce (Remix). The song which samples Eve’s 2002 hit Let Me Blow Ya Mind came about after a social media exchange between the two Nigerian artists about making new music during the quarantine. The airy and dancy production of the Afro-dancehall song makes it very Summer worthy.
