Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 Next Drop Is Signaling The Return Of Simple Sneakers

Nike and Supreme have a long history. The NYC streetwear label and the sportswear brand from Oregon have been collaborating on some of the most anticipated sneakers since 2002. With the recently released Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 Low Baroque Brown, which is rather understated in this era of overly-designed sneakers, it appears that they will be carrying on this legacy.

The Baroque Brown edition, a follow-up to the black and white variants that made their debut back in 2020, uses a similar design language but makes a few notable alterations. Instead of being made entirely of leather like its monochromatic ancestors, this version is made of suede and is completely covered in a dark chocolate color.

Of course, the necessary Supreme box logo is imprinted immediately below the Swoosh. A work boot-inspired vibe is created by the thick rope ties that bind everything together. Underfoot, the star-spangled Air midsole from the original Air Force 1 is back in a matching color. Everything is delivered in a limited-edition co-branded shoebox.

Just take a look at the pair’s most recent eye-popping Air Bakin for evidence that Supreme is not afraid to absolutely freak it out with a Nike collaboration. That is specifically what gives this modest AF1 a more modern feel. The stylishly subdued brown suede here seems to herald a welcome return to simplicity in the sneaker world after years of loud, showy kicks—splashed in metallics and technological paneling—dominating the market.

The Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 Low Baroque Brown is scheduled to release as part of the NYC label’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection and will cost $118. Not much else is known about the shoe at this time. That is, of course, assuming you are fortunate enough to get it at retail.
