Last Week, The Best Dressed Stars Were A Delightful Mix Of Glam And Edgy

a va voom! That’s the sound of the drive emanating from Black style stars serving haute looks on the global fashion streets––trying to make up for lost time in fits the pandemic had denied them the chance of wearing this time last year, and slowing down isn’t in the picture. Last week, these beauties understood the code per event, and not one played out of line. They kept things colorful, sophisticated, and à la mode.

From presenting awards in glamorous ensembles to embodying picture-perfect red carpet numbers that spelt out elegance in all its letters, the looks were a hit in every way. Certainly, this season has style stars and celebrities making impressions and long-lasting style statements.

The looks

Musician Ashanti pulled off a Cinderella entrance for the 50th Soul Train Awards in a black glamorous Csiriano ball gown which looked like it belonged on the red carpet. Unlike Cinderella, this semblance stayed and made its impact long after midnight. A Rave-worthy style moment worth acknowledging.

Boujee wore Kelly Rowland like a fitted glove or maybe like a monochrome form-fitting jumpsuit and faux fur goodness. The star showed up in a Marcel Von Berlin custom look for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. That’s how you show up for Thanksgiving—giving thanks and everything else your looks should give.

Over in Nigeria, actress Osas Ighodaro showed up in a blue structured high-slit dress teamed with silver heels and long braids as she presented for Africa Music Awards (Afrima) 2021. Undoubtedly, she commanded regal vibes every step of the way.

The styles shared by Black celebrities and top fashion influencers last week were nothing short of chic, edgy, and glamorous, and it’s safe to say that we are, as usual, living vicariously through them. Black style queens.
