In an effort to not waste her unused breast milk, 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams decided to donate it to deserving families. The mom of two opened up on Instagram about her decision to offer up the precious liquid. “On a recent trip to NY I had left over breast milk. After going through a screening I was able to donate it instead of taking the milk home,” she explained in the caption of the post. “I know so many amazing women that adopt or are unable to make milk.” For the iconic athlete, this opportunity to volunteer “felt amazing.”

“BTW Someone out there is getting some super soldier milk,” she added. Her post was accompanied by a video of her opening a freezer door that showed multiple packets of milk. In the video, she said she was “really excited” to donate the milk because “some people really need it.”

2. Davido’s ‘Unavailable’ is Spotify’s most streamed Afrobeats song of 2023

2023 has been a remarkable year for Nigerian megastar Davido, whose fourth album, “Timeless,” enjoyed wide commercial success. According to the information provided by Spotify on its Afrobeats website, Davido’s “Unavailable,” featuring Musa Keys, is the most streamed Afrobeats song on the music streaming platform in 2023. The hit song topped the list that included Burna Boy’s “City Boy,” Rema’sCharm,” and Asake’s “Lonely At The Top.”

Come February 5, 2024, Davido will be hoping to win his first Grammy Award, as “Unavailable” was nominated for Best African Music Performance, while “Feel” and “Timeless” were nominated for Best Global Music Performance and Best Global Album, respectively.

In November, Musa Keys announced that he would be hosting a festival-style concert at Polokwane, Limpopo’s Peter Mokaba Stadium. Sadly, things have not gone the musician’s way, and Detty December has had to be postponed. Keys took to his Instagram account and shared the not-so-good news that they have had to postpone the concert, which was advertised as a homecoming festival. “Due to unforeseen technical and production challenges, we unfortunately will not be ready to host the event as initially planned and sincerely apologize to all ticket holders and supporters alike,” the statement read.

His fans were certainly shattered over the news, especially with all the exciting build-up leading up to the day, but others encouraged the hitmaker to come back stronger, with many acknowledging that putting on a show of such scale is never easy.

4. The Color Purple breaks Christmas box office record in opening week

“The Color Purple” was a holiday box office hit in the first week of its release. According to reports, the musical adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway show grossed $18.1 million from 3,142 theaters on Monday, December 25, making it the second-best showing ever for a film premiering on Christmas Day since “Sherlock Holmes” debuted with $24.6 million in 2009. Also, the highly anticipated film has drawn more in one day than other stage-to-screen films, such as “West Side Story” (2021), which struggled at the box office.

“The Color Purple” edged out “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” which pulled in $10.6 million, one of the slowest starts of the DC Cinematic Universe. Garnering rave reviews, including an “A” grade from CinemaScore, “The Color Purple” is a robust musical retelling of the tragedies and triumphs that Celie (Fantasia Barrino) encounters in rural Georgia in the early 1900s.

Erik ten Hag was given a boost on Wednesday as midfielder Mason Mount returned to training with Manchester United. Mount has not featured for the Red Devils since a substitute appearance against Luton on November 11, having been out of action with an injury. The 24-year-old stepped up his recovery in midweek by getting back on the training pitch, United confirmed on Wednesday. Mount shared an image of himself training, adding in his Instagram post: “Hope you had a great Christmas Reds, can’t wait to be back out there with the lads!”

The England international’s return to training comes as good news for manager Ten Hag, who has had to cope without several key players throughout the season due to injury concerns. The Dutchman expects fellow Red Devils stars Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez to return in January. The former Chelsea player will continue his recovery over the coming days, and Ten Hag may provide an update on his fitness at a press conference on Friday. However, he is not expected to be back in the squad for Saturday’s match against Nottingham Forest.
