The Most Rave-worthy Looks At The 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards

Hosted by Kenan Thompson, the 74th Emmy Awards took place Monday night in Los Angeles, coinciding with NYFW which kept the east coast abuzz. From dramatic cuts to futuristic detailing, the red carpet outfits were definitely the type of designs front-row fashion editors would approve of.

Even with a mostly virtual Emmy Awards ceremony in 2020 and an outdoor event in 2021, TV’s top performers nonetheless pulled off a few noteworthy appearances during the pandemic’s peak. However, for the 2022 event, guests returned to the 7,100-seat Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and a larger event called for greater designs. Black and white were a popular color combination on the red carpet, while new trends found their footing in colorful metallics, sequins, and tulle.

With her strapless, full-skirted gowns, Zendaya channeled Old Hollywood while wearing couture Valentino. It pays homage to a vintage Valentino design from the brand’s fall/winter 1987 collection. Alexandra Daddario of “The White Lotus” stood out in a transparent, one-shoulder tulle gown by Dior Haute Couture that was embellished with exquisite embroidery.

“The Bear” star Ayo Edebiri’s Giambattista Valli haute couture was a well-needed touch of mini evening dress that the red carpet needed. Equally, Lily James’ shimmery Versace number and Issa Rae’s elegant black and white Sergio Hudson look were formfitting—and all about accentuating the shape.

There were also a few daring choices made last night, such as Jasmin Savoy Brown’s latex dress by Christopher Kane with cuts at the hips and bust, and Julia Garner’s embroidered Gucci dress with a belly button cutout.

The gents were not left out as they showed up and showed out in razor-sharp fits (many of which were entirely white, a huge move) crafted by the likes of Gucci, Dior, and Ermenegildo Zegna.

Fortunately, the high-octane attires matched the tremendous atmosphere of the event. It was a historic occasion for actresses like Zendaya, who became the youngest two-time Emmy winner ever; Quinta Brunson and Sheryl Lee Ralph, who became first-time Emmy award winners.

This year’s Emmys featured an array of stylish outfits, from sharp suits to bright ensembles, sparkly gowns to flamboyant attire. It’s already clear that this Emmys red carpet will go down in history. Red Carpet Emmy Awards 2022
