Christelle Kocher had things to say and she chose to do it the one way she can – through fashion. We are in a space in time when voices are being heard, however, not all voices get to be heard. It is chaos – there is an all-time high of discords between nations and the world is still an imperfect place but the Koché designer decide to lend her voice by preaching unity, acceptance and diversity through her SS19 collection, all under the guise of celebrating women across the globe.
According to the designer,
“It’s an homage to diversity, a rallying call in which fashion can be a good vector of unification,”
The statement was made after the show which was held at the headquarters of the French Communist Party in Paris. Christelle’s expressions shaped by the variations of her experiences was important when it came to creating pieces that would evoke her thoughts and story.
For this season, she made sure to visit her experiences with the collection which comprised of lots of shimmer and athleisure wear. The show was quite an experience and as models walked through the golden-hued passage you could see the splashes of colours and fabrics; the patterns, the appliques all working together to create a very modern display of pieces that all women could definitely agree on.
