Can we say 2022 is the year of return? We’re saying this because artists who have been on hiatuses, whether long or short, have made a return to the music scene. One of them is lover boy Oxlade who made a return with a love song titled Want You.
Vocal powerhouse Praiz, known for his strong vocals and catchy songs, also made his return to the music scene after a long while with an album titled Reckless. We’ve curated a list of the top five trending new afrobeat songs to make your weekend full of life. Take a look.

#1. Oxlade – Want You
Well-Known Nigerian Afro-pop singer and performer, Oxlade churns out a super exciting song titled, Want You. This song happens to be Oxlade’s debut single for the year 2022 after a hiatus from the music scene. On Want You, the star sings about wanting to get the attention of a lady he likes but doesn’t know how to go about it so he just uses his words. It’s a perfect blend of classic lovers’ lines and unusual phrases.
#2. Dremo ft. Simi – Confam
DMW Recording artist, Dremo is out with a brand new song which he titles, Confam, with vocal aid from Nigerian music diva, Simi, whose flavor was overwhelming on her verse. Confam is a mix of Afrobeat with an unforgettable hook and slow bop that pleases the ears. Dremo and Simi did wonderfully well on this tune, one can’t afford to miss it. Its production was handled by Nigerian ace music producer, Niphkeys.
#3. Timaya – Charger
Prominent Nigerian record maker is popularly known as Timaya drops another invigorating euphony which he titles Charger. This mind-blowing tune was released through the imprint of DM Records. This Smeex Beat-produced song, Charger, is a combination of Amapiano sound with afrobeats. With the raving amapiano sound buzzing everywhere, Timaya decided not to be left out as he unleashes this harmony.
#4. Falz ft. BNXN (Buju) – Ice Cream
Falz has released a new song featuring BNXN titled Ice Cream. Falz released this tune for the listening delight of his music audience. BNXN was opportuned to add his vibe to the harmony, making it a successful one. This tune happens to be Falz’s debut single for the year 2022. The record, Ice Cream is part of Falz’s forthcoming album, which will be his seventh studio project after, Moral Instruction, in 2019.
#5. Praiz – Reckless
Following brief forays into pop and afrobeat, Nigerian soul singer Praiz — perhaps best known for his outstanding performance on That Stupid Song, his 2011 duet with Bez — returns to familiar territory on Reckless, his third studio album, delivering his characteristic warm, emotional, and soul-stirring vocals. Here, the preacher’s son does it all, concocting mellow grooves on all the songs while featuring some of Nigeria’s best.
