Olandria Made a Striking Statement in Red at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood 2026

Some red-carpet moments arrive like a flash of light, while others unfold slowly, revealing another detail with every glance. Olandria Carthen delivered the latter at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood 2026, stepping out in a vivid Francalanci gown that turned texture, color, and skin-baring details into one striking fashion statement. Wrapped in an intense shade of red, she appeared to emerge from the color itself, with an open-work surface, commanding shoulders, and a daring slit that gave the look its own visual language.

The event took place on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills. Presented by Disney+, Variety’s annual Power of Young Hollywood celebration brought together rising musicians, actors, and digital creators helping to shape contemporary pop culture. Against that backdrop, Olandria’s choice made perfect sense: youthful, fearless, and designed to command attention.

The Outfit Breakdown

Styled by The Reimans, Olandria wore a floor-length Francalanci gown in a saturated shade of red, but the color was only the beginning of what made the dress stand out. Across the body, an intricate open-work textile created a web-like effect reminiscent of crochet, macramé, or finely cut lace, giving the gown an almost woven appearance while allowing glimpses of skin beneath.

The neckline brought a sharper edge to the look, with a high mock collar leading into padded, pagoda-style shoulders that gave the upper half a powerful outline. Full-length sleeves continued the intricate open-knit pattern, while the fitted waist and hips kept the silhouette close to the body.

Then came the dramatic reveal: an asymmetrical thigh-high slit that opened along the right side, exposing the leg from the upper hip to the floor. That contrast between coverage and exposure kept the gown from becoming visually heavy, while the textured surface gave the monochromatic red palette plenty of depth. The appearance ultimately worked because the gown had several distinct ideas at play without allowing any single detail to overpower the rest.

The Accessories

Rather than interrupting the gown’s impact with bold accessories, Olandria kept the styling deliberately restrained. Matching red pumps extended the color from the dress all the way to her feet, creating an uninterrupted line that emphasized the gown’s length.
Her jewelry was equally considered, with shimmering round-cut stud earrings providing a small flash of light without competing with the elaborate textile. Even her manicure became part of the styling story. Created by Ginger Lopez, the long stiletto nails featured gold-toned, armor-like details, bringing a subtle metallic note to the otherwise monochromatic look.

One of the more interesting details was a delicate cross-shaped navel ring, which became visible through one of the gown’s open cutouts. The tiny jewel added another layer of personal styling to an outfit already designed around strategic glimpses of skin.

The Makeup

Makeup artist Kimora Mulan created a warm, high-shine beauty look using Opus Beauty products, drawing heavily from the makeup language of the 1990s while keeping the finish fresh.

Warm brown eyeshadow was blended across the lids, with deeper espresso tones concentrated around the outer corners for a soft smoky effect. A precise black wing extended the eyes outward, while wispy lashes brought additional length and lift. Her brows were dark, defined, and sharply arched, giving the soft eye makeup a stronger frame.

The complexion stayed warm and softly contoured, with definition along the cheekbones, jawline, and nose. A touch of highlighter brightened the inner corners and tip of the nose, while the lips delivered one of the clearest nods to ’90s beauty: a deep brown liner blended into a warm nude-pink center and finished with generous clear gloss. The combination worked especially well against the intense red of the gown, giving her face enough definition to stand out without competing with the dress.

The Hairstyle

Hairstylist Ashanti Lation brought the final element of control to the look with a braided updo. The sides and crown were smoothed back, drawing attention upward before the hair gathered into a textured bun at the crown.

Visible braiding and twists gave the bun dimension, while two delicate curled pieces were left loose around the face. Those wisps softened the otherwise precise hairstyle and created a flattering frame around her jawline.

Why Olandria’s Look Stood Out at the Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood 2026

Photo: Shaun-Andru

The beauty of the look was in the way it revealed itself piece by piece. First came the red, commanding the eye from across the room. Then came the intricate web of open-work fabric, the high collar, the padded shoulders, and finally the daring slit that opened the gown along her leg. Every detail seemed to offer another reason to look closer.

At an event dedicated to the names shaping what comes next, her fashion choice carried its own sense of arrival. Olandria’s fashion moment at the Variety Power of Young Hollywood 2026 was bold without becoming chaotic, sensual without losing its sense of purpose, and youthful without relying on novelty.
