he next generation of creative powerhouses is here, and it looks like it runs in the West family. North West, the eldest daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, has stepped behind the camera to direct the music video for her dad’s song “Talking”, featuring Ty Dolla $ign. On Tuesday (April 30), the music video went live. Scenes from the video show North living it up with her friends as they vibe to the track. The 10-year-old performs her viral verse from the Vultures 1 album, rapping: “I love it here/ We gonna take over the year for another year/ It’s your bestie, Miss, Miss Westie/ Don’t tryna test me/ It’s gonna get messy/ It’s gonna get messy/ Just, just bless me/ Bless me/ It’s your bestie, Miss, Miss Westie/ Just tryna bless me/ Just bless me, bless me.” The second half of the video then shifts to Ty and Ye, with both artists reciting their verses from “Once Again.” “Talking” marks North’s latest creative effort while she’s preparing for the release of her debut album, Elementary School Dropout, which is titled after her father’s 2004 landmark debut EP, “The College Dropout.” With this directorial debut, North joins a growing list of celebrity offspring making their mark on the creative world. It’ll be exciting to see what kind of visuals she brings to life and whether this is the first of many music videos, or films, directed by North West.
