Regan Hutsell has been crowned Miss America 2027 after representing Texas at the national competition in West Palm Beach, Florida. The 25-year-old Houston native took home the coveted title Sunday night, Sept. 6, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, becoming the 99th woman to wear the Miss America crown.
The win capped a competitive week that brought together delegates from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. By the end of the evening, Miss America 2027 was Regan Hutsell, who also secured $50,000 in scholarship money and a year of appearances representing the organization.

Hutsell was crowned by Miss America 2026 Cassie Donegan during the finals ceremony, continuing the pageant’s tradition of having the outgoing titleholder crown her successor.
The Texas representative had already emerged as one of the competition’s strongest contenders before the final night. She was among the 11 semifinalists announced during Sunday’s competition before advancing to the final five alongside Miss Louisiana Shelby Bordelon, Miss Illinois Kate Dimmett, Miss California Sharlize True Trujillo and Miss District of Columbia Evelyn Smith.
Bordelon ultimately finished as first runner-up, while Dimmett was named second runner-up. Trujillo and Smith rounded out the top five.
Her Talent Performance Made an Impression

One of Hutsell’s biggest strengths throughout the competition was her background in dance. She performed a jazz routine during the talent portion, delivering the kind of polished performance that had already earned her attention during the preliminary rounds.
Earlier in the week, Hutsell won preliminary awards for both talent and fitness, with each award carrying a $3,000 scholarship.
Dance has been part of Hutsell’s life since childhood. Her experience reportedly includes performing with the Radio City Rockettes and the Birmingham Royal Ballet in the United Kingdom, giving her an extensive performance background before she arrived at the Miss America competition.
That experience became particularly valuable as contestants moved through multiple portions of the competition, from fitness and talent to evening wear and onstage questions.
Hutsell Chose “Courage” During the Finals
During the semifinal round, Hutsell was asked to respond to the word “courage” in a 30-second answer.
She spoke about the courage required to persevere through difficult experiences and pursue her ambitions, connecting the word to her own journey. The brief response gave judges another opportunity to assess contestants beyond their performances and appearance.
Hutsell ultimately advanced from the semifinal field to the final five before being named the winner later that night.
Her Platform Focuses on Body Confidence

Away from the competition stage, Hutsell has centered her advocacy work on physical and mental well-being through her community service initiative, Your Body Is Your Home.
The initiative encourages people to take care of themselves while developing a healthier relationship with their bodies. The message is personal for Hutsell, who has previously spoken publicly about struggling with an eating disorder.
Rather than focusing solely on appearance, Hutsell’s platform emphasizes health, self-care and developing confidence from within. Her experiences have helped shape the message she plans to take with her during her national reign.
Regan Hutsell Plans a Career in Physical Therapy
Hutsell’s interest in health also extends to her education and professional ambitions. She is studying health sciences through Liberty University Online and plans to pursue a career in physical therapy.
That background gives her advocacy work an additional connection to her academic interests as she begins her year as Miss America.
With Miss America 2027, Regan Hutsell will spend the coming year traveling and making appearances on behalf of the organization. Her responsibilities are expected to include speaking engagements, philanthropic activities and community events.
Cassie Donegan Passes on the Crown

Hutsell succeeds Cassie Donegan, who spent the past year serving as Miss America 2026 after winning the title last September.
Donegan, an accomplished singer, traveled extensively during her reign for speaking engagements, charitable opportunities and performances. Among her appearances was singing the national anthem at the Daytona 500 and performing at the 2026 MLB All-Star Game.
Donegan previously described the role as unpredictable but rewarding, saying that every day brought something different. She now hands the title to Hutsell, who begins her own yearlong reign.
West Palm Beach Hosts Miss America

This year’s competition marked the first time Miss America was staged in South Florida. The organization has announced that West Palm Beach will continue hosting the pageants through 2028.
The competition has a long history of changing locations. After decades in Atlantic City, the event moved to cities including Las Vegas and Orlando.
On Sunday, however, the spotlight belonged to Texas.
With Regan Hutsell officially crowned Miss America 2027, the Houston dancer and health sciences student now begins a national reign built around performance, wellness and personal resilience. She leaves West Palm Beach not simply as the winner of this year’s competition, but as the latest woman to carry one of America’s most recognizable pageant titles.
