At one point or the other, almost all of us wanted to be models mostly because all we saw was the glamour and what we thought was the easy fame. At least that’s what I had in mind until I grew up and realised that modelling definitely requires a lot more work than I thought and I simply closed my non-existent modelling portfolio and decided to look for a career that wouldn’t require me doing any form of exercise or watching my food intake. Having a successful modelling career requires as much dedication and consistency as any other career and even more than most careers because the modelling world is a very fluid and competitive one and as such you can be relevant today and forgotten tomorrow.
Within a few years, one of Nigeria’s top male models, twenty-one-year-old Victor Ndigwe has shown that he plans to remain relevant in the global fashion industry for a very long time. Since winning the Aquafina Elite Model Look Nigeria in 2014, alongside Mayowa Nicholas, Victor has gone on to walk for some of the most reputable fashion brands in the world like Ermenegildo Zegna, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Versace, Missoni, Hermès and Balmain. His fashion CV also concludes the enviable feat of being the first Nigerian male model to walk the runways of Milan and Paris.
With a highly marketable face, a timeless look and a covetable portfolio like his, we can bet our last dollar that Victor’s journey in the world of fashion has only just begun and can’t wait to see where his star leads his next. Either way, we will be here clapping like a proud mama at her son’s soccer game.
