1. Mariah Carey Announces She’s Bringing Her Annual Christmas Show to Las Vegas

Mariah Carey is officially bringing her Christmas show to the Las Vegas Strip. The legendary “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer announced on Monday that she will return to the stage this winter with Christmastime in Las Vegas. This will be a festive 10-show residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM. Set to run from November 28 through December 13. They mark a new chapter in Carey’s holiday tradition, following three years of touring across North America for the season.

Tickets for the residency will roll out in phases, beginning with a Citi / AAdvantage presale on September 17 at 10 a.m. PT, followed by artist and venue-related presales on September 18 and 19. General ticket sales open to the public on September 20 at 10 a.m. PT. This latest announcement follows a high-profile moment for Carey, who was recently honored with the Video Vanguard Award at the 2025 MTV VMAs. She is also set to release her 16th studio album, Here for It All, on September 26. “Excited to bring Christmastime to the Dolby Live at Park MGM in Vegas!” Carey shared on Instagram, giving fans yet another reason to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.

2. Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa Moves to Acquire African Music Catalogues

Afrobeats star and entrepreneur Mr Eazi is taking a major step in reshaping the African music industry. On Monday, September 15, the “Leg Over” hitmaker announced via his official X (formerly Twitter) account that his company, emPawa Africa, is now actively acquiring African music catalogues. In the post, he invited rights holders to reach out if they have proof of ownership and at least three years of earnings history. This signals a focus on established, revenue-generating bodies of work.

This move places Mr Eazi at the forefront of a growing global trend where music catalogues are seen as valuable long-term investments. By purchasing these rights, emPawa Africa aims not only to profit from future royalties but also to keep African intellectual property within the continent. The initiative follows the recent appointment of Miller Williams as Head of Publishing at emPawa, part of a broader strategy to expand the company’s catalogue and international reach. With a track record of developing stars like Joeboy, Mr Eazi is now positioning himself and emPawa as key players in the global valuation and monetization of African music.

3. A TikTok Deal Has Finally Been Reached With China

After years of uncertainty, the Trump administration has reached a breakthrough deal with China to keep TikTok operational in the United States. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Monday that a framework agreement has been finalized, with President Donald Trump set to speak with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday to close the deal. While officials did not confirm the identity of the U.S.-backed buyer, the acquisition is widely expected to be led by Oracle executive chairman Larry Ellison, a longtime Trump ally and one of the world’s wealthiest individuals.

The deal marks the culmination of a years-long political and economic battle that began during Trump’s first term and intensified under President Biden, who signed into law a bipartisan ban targeting TikTok unless its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, divested U.S. assets. Trump, now in his second term, issued executive actions earlier this year delaying enforcement of the ban, allowing time for negotiations. Officials say the agreement balances national security concerns with fair treatment of Chinese stakeholders and could lay the groundwork for a long-awaited Trump-Xi summit this fall. With TikTok boasting 170 million American users, many of whom supported Trump in 2024, the political and cultural stakes of the deal are significant.

4. Tramell Tillman Becomes The First Black Man To Win a Supporting Drama Actor Emmy

In a night marked by powerful speeches and unforgettable moments, Tramell Tillman made television history at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14. The Severance star took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, becoming the first Black man ever to win in the category. Tillman was honored for his captivating performance as Seth Milchick on Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed psychological thriller, a role that has become one of the most talked-about in modern television.

Tillman’s road to the Emmy stage was anything but conventional. Originally on a pre-med track at Xavier University with ambitions of becoming an orthopedic surgeon, the Mississippi native pivoted to acting after discovering a love for the craft. That leap of faith led him to Severance, where his portrayal of Milchick, a corporate enforcer with a chilling blend of charm and menace, stood out even among a star-studded ensemble that includes Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, and John Turturro. In his emotional acceptance speech, Tillman thanked his mother for being his “first acting coach” and offered an inspiring message: “I’m standing here because someone told me I could… Tonight, I want every little Black boy who’s ever been told he couldn’t to know: you can, and you will.”

5. Lamine Yamal Set To Miss Newcastle Clash

Barcelona are set to enter high-level talks with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in a bid to defuse mounting tensions over the handling of teenage star Lamine Yamal’s injury during the recent international break. The move follows manager Hansi Flick’s pointed criticism of Spain’s decision to field Yamal, who was already carrying a groin issue, in matches against Bulgaria and Turkey. The 18-year-old winger has since been ruled out of several key club fixtures, including this week’s Champions League opener against Newcastle.

Sporting director Deco will reportedly meet with RFEF technical director Aitor Karanka to establish better communication protocols between club and country regarding player fitness. Flick had slammed the national team’s management, stating, “Lamine already went to the national team in pain… That’s not looking after the players.” With both sides now eager to prevent future clashes, the talks are expected to focus on protecting player welfare, particularly for young talents like Yamal, by ensuring medical concerns are fully addressed before international appearances.
