Richard Quinn received the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at his last season show (February 2018) from the Queen herself who sat front row; and with that, the designer literally broke the internet. Many were shocked at the appearance of the Queen at such a fashion event. So, while last season was great for the brand, it also raised the stakes and expectations for Richard Quinn’s Spring/Summer 2019 show!
Richard Quinn has always been about captivating his audience and this time, he did that through a combination of fashion, art and music.
According to the designer,
“In these dystopian times, there is a search for the things that can light our way.”
With live Orchestra performed by London Philharmonic, Richard Quinn set a classic mood and tone for his show. Models walked down the runway in desirable clothes that showcased a variety of techniques. There were a lot of rich prints and in some instance, you get a reminder of a fifties prom style; however, at other times all you could see were contemporary looks and silhouettes that were edgy yet very much a part of the collection.
Textures, prints, embroidery, embellishments, tulle and appliqués were all present in the collection, setting a classy feel with a retro vibe. Sequin and feathers also made an appearance on flower pattern dresses and edgy pieces with sparkles. The lineup had short silk jackets, bright belted coat dresses, sweeping cape-coats, sparkled pants and leather leggings, all of which provided a perfect balance of DESIRE!
