Lagos Lately: See The Glitzy Looks Spotted On Nigerian Style Stars

N

ifty is a universal language, but only a few speak it fluently. This past week, Lasgidi ladies crucified basic dressing on the altar of intentional style. The Lagos crowd was mixed with open-minded risk-takers who blurred the lines with daring dressing, and voguish subscribers who decked fads with precision.

Indeed, Lasgidi fashionistas will never compromise on style. Even a trip to the grocery store is a fashion shopping opportunity. The past week was particularly bold and extra, with luxurious fabrics, bold tints, and flamboyant silhouettes serenading the style scene.

Check out chic looks spotted on Lasgidi fashionistas this past week…

#1. Mo Abudu

Media mogul, Mo Abudu is versed in sophistication. With a charisma like hers, she can wear a garbage bag and make it look like carats of gold. Yet, she would never be caught in one. Abudu posted JPEGs on Instagram for the Easter celebrations, wearing a maxi dress and cape combo embellished with floral embroidery. She styled the offering with emerald green pumps and statement jewelry. No doubt, the look spoke classy in multiple languages.

#2. Veekee James

Marvel’s Storm has 24 hours to respond to Veekee James’ grey haircut. Yes, she did it so well, that she could be mistaken for the superhero. A bit of an exaggeration, but she still slayed the haircut, and pairing it with a matching dress and collared shirt further injected oomph. The fashion businesswoman knows her onions and shows it by steadfastly standing on business.

Blings were an integral part of last week’s fashion ordeal. Celebrities like Toke Makinwa stepped out in embellished ensembles to reckon with the unspoken bejeweled dress code in the Lasgidi fashionistas’ streets. She wore a black Tolu Bally outfit and strung along a red structured purse for a pop of color. The sheer turtleneck top, which was sprinkled with crystals, was tucked into wide-hem pants with multiple cutouts. The glitz and glam vamped up an already fab all-black fit.

#4. Mimi Yina

Skirts are the diamonds of the season. Right now, all skirts matter. The minis, midis, and maxis all have a fair chance at the front lines. Trust designer Mimi Yina to render any piece in her unique way. She posed on the Gram in a statement wrap color-block midi skirt styled with a turtleneck top. The skirt had straps for pinafore functionalities, with tiered fabrics adding to aesthetics and movement. Finishing off with yellow strappy heels and a mini bag, the look was a feminine and fun affair.

Extravagant perfectly describes this Ambaosa look on Bella Okagbue. The magic is in the details. According to the designer, the form-fitting dress features 31,400 double-glazed silver crystal stones, and the cape was crafted with 1003 roses and spiked feathers. The precision in every cut and the knowing frame that upheld the masterpiece worked in symphony to project elegance at its finest.
