Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2017 Runway Spotlight! Top 6 Designer Picks From Day 3 Runway Shows | #HLFDW17

Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week Day 3 was a complete shutdown. I was really looking forward to day three as soon as the schedule was released. I knew I had to attend Day 3 shows as a lot of top Nigerian designers like Mai Atafo, Lisa Folawiyo, Andrea Iyamah and more were going to be showcasing their pieces.

Being a Friday night, the place was packed! Unlike, Day 2 the show started a bit late which was simply unprofessional but as soon as the show commenced we all quickly forgave the organisers because we knew it was going to be an exciting night.

Here are my top 6 Designers from Day 3 shows…

Emmy Kasbit

Everything about this collection was simply perfect. Design-wise to the tailoring, fabric selection and showcase. Also, a lot of Aso-oke fabric was featured in the collection which was totally fresh and made his pieces stand out.

Clan

This was one of the strongest showcases for the night. Creative director of the brand, Teni Sagoe daughter of renowned fashion designer Deola Sagoe continues to prove herself. This year, her collection proffered a modern and very fresh vibe to being sexy and young. The pieces from the collection were well tailored, very clean and chic.

Sisiano

Talk about pure magic! The aesthetics of this collection was all that and more. Sisiano drew inspiration from the Greek gods and goddesses. The showcase had a very serene and peaceful feel to it. The use of soft pastels colours was perfect in conveying a very beautiful story and a powerful message.

Andrea Iyamah

This collection was nothing short of perfection. From the beginning of the showcase to the end. Just when we all thought an amazing show was over, Andrea Iyamah gave us an extra delight by unveiling her bridal collection with Former Miss World, Agbani Darego opening the show. What could top that?

Mai Atafo

Save the best for the last, right? This was the last showcase of the night and it was completely exhilarating. Mai Atafo is notable for his statement sartorial pieces and this year the pieces from his menswear clothing were topnotch. From the unveiling of his menswear clothing to his recreation of the dancing scene from the movie ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Mai certainly delivered the highest note of the night with this collection.

Tiffany Amber

What could be more exciting than a surprise showcase by top designer Tiffany Amber? Nothing! Tiffany captured the beauty of African culture using Adire fabric as her anchor point to showcase luxurious and sophisticated pieces for the contemporary African woman who is bold and most importantly proud of her culture.

So many highlights from the Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week day three runway shows. Did you keep up with day three show? What were your favourite pieces from the runway showcase?
