At Style Rave, we aim to inspire our readers by…
Stolen rays of sunshine flickering through the blinds, sounds of machines wheezing back to life, excited screams from the depth of our lungs – ‘we outside!’ Last week, our favorite African celebrities and influencers officially dispelled the cobwebs of inactivity clogging up their closets and went on overdrive with their styles.
This is particularly exciting because we finally get to play dress-up in all of the pieces we couldn’t sport during the pandemic including sequins, tulles, embellished numbers, and heels in interestingly outré styles. Our favorite African fashionistas certainly dressed the part last week — from events like weddings which provided an excuse to be a little over the top, to birthday shoot outfits that gave and kept giving — these striking looks by celebrities and influencers are what every style girl needs to get excited about fashion again.
The Looks
A glitzy highlight from the wedding guest specials last weekend was the stunning Tiwa Savage in a sultry number by Nigerian celebrity designer Lanre DaSilva Ajayi. The pink metallic high-slit piece appeared to be spliced together for one purpose: to accentuate the brown-skinned beauty’s figure. The theme must have been bling out and top SA influencer Sarah Langa showcased this in an all-round embellished champagne jumpsuit by luxury womenswear brand Nadine Merabi.
First things first: date night! Because, why not? Nigerian celebrity Stephanie Coker was jaw-dropping dreamy in a red mini tulle dress that would give every other red dress a run for their money. Bring it gurrrl! Talking about dreamy looks, looking effortlessly stylish in a metallic flowy dress by The Red Boutique Melrose Arch, South African media girl Ayanda Thabethe defined the slogan: easy, breezy, beautiful. If you, for a second forgot your Queen status, this look is your subtle reminder to adjust your crown and shine.
The styles shared by African celebrities and top fashion influencers last week were nothing short of chic, edgy, and glamorous and it’s safe to say that we are, as usual, living vicariously through them.
