A few days ago, Drake released his new song “Toosie Slide” which was accompanied by a video where he gave a tour of his house. Drake, through Architectural Digest, has given fans a better look inside his Toronto mansion. The luxurious house tour is set to feature on the cover of the design publication’s May 2020 issue. Designed by Canadian architect and interior designer Ferris Rafauli, Drake’s home is 50,000 square feet, features a unique NBA-sized basketball court decorated with OVO-inspired designs, a bespoke Bösendorfer concert grand piano designed in collaboration with Rafauli and Takashi Murakami, cathedral-esque ceilings and is built with specially sourced materials.
The mansion has been a few years in the making. In 2015, Drake bought the plot on Toronto’s exclusive Park Lane Circle for a reported $6.7 million. He then demolished the existing bungalow to make way for the masterpiece. According to the Toronto-born superstar, who in 2019 had a net worth of $150 million, per Forbes, the home demonstrates his desire to “forever remain solid in the place I was born.”
While talking about his home, Drake told Architectural Digest, “Because I was building it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to stand firm for 100 years. I wanted it to have a monumental scale and feel. It will be one of the things I leave behind, so it had to be timeless and strong.”
When asked about his favourite place in the grand house, Drake shined the spotlight on his 3,200-square-foot bedroom and accompanying 1,100-square-foot covered terraces.
“The bedroom is where I come to decompress from the world at the end of the night and where I open my eyes to seize the day. The bed lets you float, the shower lets you escape and gather your thoughts, and the closet makes you want to talk to yourself while you’re getting dressed.”
