Davido Makes A Grand Return With ‘Timeless’ + More Trending New Afrobeats Songs

What better way to end the first quarter of the year than with new Afrobeats music? This week, we got an array of songs from some of our favorite artistes to take into the second quarter of the year, and we are pretty excited about that. Davido’s hiatus in previous months has been extremely felt, not only by the Nigerian entertainment industry but by the international community as well. You could easily tell by the way the news about his return to the music scene was received by fans inside and beyond the shores of Africa. Today, Davido returns with Timeless, his highly anticipated fourth studio album which is now the talk of the town.

Elsewhere, rising hip-hop artiste, Odumodublvck released his song, Declan Rice named after the famous English footballer. This song caught the attention of the footballer who has been posting about it on his social media, taking the song to new heights quickly. There were other bangers released this week to set the ball rolling for quarter two. In that respect, we’ve curated a list of the top five trending new releases to give you a taste of that.

#1. Davido feat. Musa Keys – Unavailable

International superstar, Davido has finally released his most anticipated studio album titled Timeless. With guest appearances from the likes of Skepta, Angelique Kidjo, Asake, Musa Keys, Focalistic, FAVE, The Cavemen, Dexta Daps, and the newly signed artistes on his rebranded DMW 2.0 imprint; Logos Olori and Morravey, the album serves as the 4th in Davido’s highly decorated catalog. Davido’s latest is Unavailable, a song many have described as their favorite so far, which features South African artiste Musa Keys. We see why it is people’s favorite. On first listen, it’s going to have you on your feet.

#2. Odumodoblvck – Declan Rice

Odumodublvck is one of the new breeds of Nigerian hip-hop conserving the spirit of the genre. With popular releases like Picanto, Dog Eat Dog, and Gutter Man, the rapper has been one of the most mentioned names as regards Nigerian hip-hop in the last few months. Today, he continues his mission as he churns out one of the singles. He released his highly anticipated single titled Declan Rice named after a popular English footballer. “Men just boku, e be like them be rice,” the rapper offers bold braggadocio on the new single, indicating that a lot of people got his back, hence the title Declan Rice. The song is coproduced by Trill Xoe and JohnWav.

#3. Stonebwoy – Far Away

Stonebwoy, the highly talented Ghanaian singer-songwriter and artiste, has just released a new song that is sure to captivate your ears and leave you wanting more. The track, titled Far Away, showcases Stonebwoy’s incredible vocal range and unique sound. From start to finish, Far Away is a stunning record that highlights the star’s ability to craft catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics. With its infectious beat and relatable lyrics, this track is sure to resonate with listeners of all ages and backgrounds.

#4. Rich The Kid feat. Rema, Ayra Starr, and KDDO – Yeh Yeh

American rapper, Rich The Kid has released his long-awaited single titled Yeh Yeh. On the new song, the rapper collaborates with Nigerian superstars, Rema, and Ayra Starr, alongside highly rated beatmaker, KDDO (fka Kiddominant). It is no news that Rich The Kid is interested in Nigerian music and its artistes. The mid-tempo tune kicks off with a verse from Rich The Kid, and then Ayra Starr comes in with a catchy hook. Rema never disappoints, the lad came through with his armory of melodies, taking the last verse of the track.

#5. Falz feat. Vector – Yakubu

The presidential, gubernatorial, national assembly, and state assembly elections of the largest black nation on earth, Nigeria have been concluded, but Nigerians aren’t having it due to the slapdash electoral malpractice, violence, and lack of transparency. The election conducted by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yabuku has been condemned by many international and local observers, as well as well-meaning Nigerians. To that effect, renowned Nigerian rappers, Falz and Vector have decided to express their views about the election in their latest single Yakubu, titled after the INEC Chairman.

On the new single, Falz and Vector represent frustrated Nigerians who have been constantly oppressed, and denied their constitutional right to vote. Falz didn’t hold back, the rapper calls out the INEC, INEC Chairman, and corrupt political parties allegedly involved in the electoral malpractices. Vector had some critical points to buttress as well, the rapper had a lot to say about the electoral process, the court jurisdiction, and of course, the INEC Chairman. Davido Timeless Album
