Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially announced the release of a new album slated for 2025, marking another milestone in his illustrious career. The award-winning artist revealed the news during an interview on The Baller Alert Show, where he also shared details about an upcoming single titled “Funds.” The track, expected to drop later this year, will feature collaborations with Nigerian music sensations Chike and Odumodublvck, blending soulful vocals with dynamic rap elements for a fresh, genre-bending sound.
Fans are already buzzing with excitement, anticipating a hit that showcases Davido’s versatility and collaborative prowess. While the details of the 2025 album remain under wraps, Davido hinted at a fusion of new sounds with his signature Afrobeats roots. Known for consistently delivering chart-topping songs and projects, the Nigerian superstar continues to solidify his status as one of Africa’s most influential musicians, with many eager to see how his next chapter unfolds.
2. J. Cole makes revelations about Kanye West
In the latest episode of his audio series Inevitable, J. Cole discussed a pivotal moment that impacted his early career. Released alongside the reissue of his “Friday Night Lights” mixtape, the episode recalls a 2010 UStream Q&A where Kanye West was asked about collaborating with Cole. West, focused on promoting “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” responded vaguely, saying, “Maybe we’ll put him on a G.O.O.D. Friday track or somethin’.” For Cole, the comment felt dismissive. “If he would’ve said, ‘Yeah, that’d be fire,’ it would’ve been a different feeling,” he said.
Cole eventually appeared on the “G.O.O.D. Friday” track “Looking for Trouble” with Pusha T, CyHi, and Big Sean, but the experience left him dissatisfied. “The final version didn’t feel right—it made my flow sound stiff,” he shared. Cole revealed his verse included subtle shots at West, underscoring his determination to prove himself. “Downplayed me to downgrade me like they don’t notice son,” he recited. The experience, while a milestone, fueled Cole’s resolve to succeed in an industry that had initially underestimated him.

Gospel star Osinachi Joseph Egbu, popularly known as Sinach, is facing a ₦5 billion lawsuit from music producer Michael Oluwole, also known as Maye, over her hit song “Way Maker.” Oluwole claims he was instrumental in the song’s success, handling the recording, mixing, mastering, and creating key instrumental elements like piano and strings. Despite this, he alleges he has not been compensated and is seeking damages, a share of the song’s profits, and legal recognition of his contributions.
Sinach maintains she is the sole creator of “Way Maker,” with her lawyer, Emeka Etiaba (SAN), asserting that Oluwole was hired solely to mix and master the track for $300. Her team argues he has no claim to royalties or copyright. Oluwole’s lawyer, Justin Ige, counters that the absence of a formal contract leaves room for his client’s claims under Nigerian copyright law. The case has sparked debate on fair compensation and intellectual property rights in Nigeria’s music industry.
4. Wendy Williams’ guardian says she’s become ‘permanently disabled and legally incapacitated’

Wendy Williams, the former host of “The Wendy Williams Show,” is now facing significant health challenges. Court-appointed guardian Sabrina E. Morrissey disclosed in legal documents that the 60-year-old media icon is “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated” due to early-onset dementia. Diagnosed with progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Williams can no longer perform daily tasks or make decisions independently, relying on a guardian to manage her affairs.
Her guardianship began in April 2022 after health struggles, including Graves’ disease and substance abuse. In 2023, her medical team confirmed the severity of her condition, leading to her placement in a care facility. Morrissey is also in a legal dispute with A&E and Lifetime over the release of “Where Is Wendy Williams?” a docuseries chronicling her life after the end of her talk show in 2022.

World number two and five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek has accepted a one-month suspension after testing positive for trimetazidine (TMZ), a banned heart medication. The positive test, which occurred in August 2024 while Swiatek was world number one, was traced to a contaminated batch of melatonin, a non-prescription sleep aid she took to manage jet lag. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) classified her level of fault as “No Significant Fault or Negligence.” Swiatek, who was provisionally suspended on September 12, successfully appealed the ban and agreed to serve a reduced suspension ending on December 4.
The suspension forced the 23-year-old to miss key tournaments, including the Korea Open, and forfeit prize money from her Cincinnati Open semi-final run. Speaking on Instagram, Swiatek expressed relief that the matter had been resolved but admitted the ordeal took a toll. The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) acknowledged the ITIA’s decision and reaffirmed its support for Swiatek, commending her commitment to clean sport. ITIA chief executive Karen Moorhouse called it a “highly unusual instance of a contaminated product,” highlighting the challenges athletes face in ensuring medication compliance.
