The Weeknd has confirmed that “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” his sixth studio album, will be released on January 24 via “XO” and Republic Records. The album concludes the trilogy that began with “After Hours” (2020) and “Dawn FM” (2022) and features the singles “Dancing in the Flames,” “Timeless“ with Playboi Carti, and “São Paulo“ featuring Anitta. “Timeless“ peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October. He debuted the tracks during a sold-out show at Estádio MorumBIS in São Paulo, Brazil, and later headlined the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
“Hurry Up Tomorrow” will also serve as the soundtrack for The Weeknd’s acting debut in a psychological thriller of the same name, directed by Trey Edward Shults and co-starring Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. Longtime collaborator Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never) will assist with the film’s score. In a 2023 interview, The Weeknd, born Abel Tesfaye, hinted this album would likely be his last under the moniker, saying, “I’ve said everything I can say as The Weeknd.” For fans, it marks the end of an era and the start of a new chapter for the artist.

After a two-year hiatus, Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has hinted at a potential concert in Lagos this December. On November 26, the Grammy-nominated artist took to Instagram to share a photo of himself, captioned simply, “Lagos December.” The cryptic post immediately sent fans into a frenzy, with many speculating that the Afrobeats sensation will soon announce a headline performance. This potential concert would be his first in Lagos since 2022 when he headlined one of the Flytime Fest events.
The news comes on the heels of the release of his sixth studio album, “Morayo,” which has taken the music world by storm. The 16-track project, featuring collaborations with Asake, Tiakola, Anais Cardot, Jasmine Sullivan, and Brent Faiyaz, broke streaming records on Spotify. With a global tour expected to follow, Lagos could be the first city to experience a live performance of “Morayo.” Fans and industry insiders alike are eagerly awaiting an official announcement.
3. Drake files second petition against Universal Music Group and iHeartRadio for defamation
HOLY SHIT. Drake just filed a SECOND petition, this time with a Texas court, claiming UMG “could have halted the release of “Not Like Us,” a song “falsely accusing him of being a sex offender.” He claims the label “funneled payments” to iHeartRadio. https://t.co/ouidHZIIeK

Drake escalated his legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG) on Tuesday (November 26) by filing a second petition in Texas, following a similar action in New York. The rapper accuses UMG of defamation over Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us,” which includes lyrics suggesting Drake and his OVO crew are “certified pedophiles.” His legal team argues the track has damaged his reputation and business interests, alleging UMG knowingly distributed it despite its harmful content.
The petition also claims UMG paid iHeartMedia to boost the song’s radio play as part of a scheme to profit from the controversy. Drake’s lawyers contend the label could have edited or refused to release the song but instead chose to exploit it. While not a full lawsuit, the petition seeks depositions from UMG and iHeartMedia executives to gather evidence for potential future claims. UMG has dismissed the accusations as “offensive and untrue,” while iHeartMedia and Lamar have not commented.

He also contributed nine assists, underscoring his value as both a scorer and playmaker.
