1. Chadwick Boseman to Get Posthumous Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Late actor Chadwick Boseman will be honored posthumously with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 20, cementing his legacy as one of Hollywood’s most influential and inspiring figures. The ceremony will feature tributes from Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom co-star Viola Davis, while Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the honor on his behalf. The event, hosted by Steve Nissen, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, will take place at 6904 Hollywood Blvd., in front of the Hollywood Experience, with a livestream available at WalkOfFame.com. “His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, about Chadwick Boseman.

Boseman’s career remains a testament to talent, purpose, and cultural pride. Rising to prominence with his portrayal of Jackie Robinson in 42, and later as James Brown in Get On Up and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall, Boseman became a defining face of modern cinema. His portrayal of T’Challa in Black Panther reshaped the superhero genre, earning Marvel its first-ever Best Picture nomination at the Oscars. He continued to shine in 21 Bridges, Da 5 Bloods, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, for which he received posthumous acclaim and multiple awards. Boseman’s death from colon cancer in 2020, at just 43, left a void in Hollywood—one now commemorated with a star that ensures his light continues to guide future generations.

2. Asake set to heat up Lagos this Christmas Eve

Lagos is gearing up for a thrilling festive season as Afrobeats sensation Asake is set to headline Flytime Fest 2025 on Christmas Eve, December 24, at the Eko Convention Center in Victoria Island. The announcement, shared through official promotional channels, cements Asake as the centerpiece of one of Nigeria’s most anticipated “Detty December” celebrations. His Christmas Eve show promises to deliver his trademark blend of Afrobeats and Fuji rhythms, alongside a catalogue of chart-topping hits that have defined his meteoric rise in global music.

The performance forms part of Asake’s newly announced Mr. Money African Tour, which also includes stops in Nairobi and Côte d’Ivoire, making the Lagos leg a much-anticipated homecoming. Following a year of sold-out shows and international acclaim, fans can expect a high-energy spectacle that reflects Asake’s dynamic artistry and stage mastery. Running from December 21 to 25, the Flytime Fest has become a staple of Nigeria’s holiday entertainment calendar. Asake’s headline slot is already poised to be the defining moment of this year’s festivities.

3. Trump Signs Spending Bill to End the Longest Government Shutdown

President Donald Trump has signed a new spending bill, officially ending the longest government shutdown in U.S. history after 43 days of political deadlock. The standoff began when Democrats refused to approve the finance bill without extending Affordable Care Act (ACA) healthcare subsidies, a move Republicans opposed. The shutdown left hundreds of thousands of federal workers without pay and disrupted key government services. Trump signed the bill on Wednesday night after it passed both chambers of Congress, saying, “With my signature, the federal government will now resume normal operations.”

The new bill restores funding for federal departments and food assistance programs through January 2026, but omits the ACA subsidy extensions Democrats sought. Furloughed workers will return to their jobs with back pay, while essential services such as air traffic control and food aid begin resuming. However, the healthcare dispute remains unresolved, with lawmakers planning another vote in December. For now, Trump’s signature brings a temporary end to weeks of economic disruption and partisan tension.

4. Police Detain Popular Singer Akon In the US

Authorities in Georgia, United States, have confirmed the brief detention of Senegalese-American singer Akon after police traced a vehicle linked to an outstanding bench warrant. According to the Chamblee Police Department, officers used an automated camera system known as Flock to identify the car. This led them to Tint World on Chamblee Dunwoody Road, where Akon, real name Aliaune Badara Thiam, was found standing beside it. The Grammy-nominated artist reportedly complied with police instructions before being taken into custody and later released from DeKalb County Jail after several hours.

Police said the arrest was connected to a September 10 incident in Roswell, when officers discovered Akon stranded next to a Tesla Cybertruck and determined he was driving with a suspended license. Following his release, the singer was briefly rebooked on November 7 before being freed again. A statement from Akon’s representative later described the ordeal as a clerical mix-up, explaining that the suspended license had already been cleared but “was not properly entered into the system.” Despite the incident, Akon resumed his international tour, performing in New Delhi, India, just two days later and continuing to post on social media as usual.

5. Jaguars Rookie Travis Hunter to Miss the Remainder of the Season After Knee Surgery

The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced that standout rookie Travis Hunter will miss the remainder of the 2025 NFL season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. The No. 2 overall pick in April’s draft suffered the injury during practice on October 30, with follow-up scans confirming the need for surgical repair despite earlier optimism for a late-season return. The recovery timeline is expected to last up to six months, officially ending Hunter’s impressive debut campaign. The 22-year-old two-way star had tallied 28 receptions for 298 yards and a touchdown as a receiver, along with 15 tackles and three pass breakups as a part-time cornerback. His breakout moment came in London against the Los Angeles Rams, where he recorded 101 receiving yards and his first NFL touchdown.

Following the procedure, Hunter was placed on injured reserve, though team doctors expect a full recovery before next summer’s training camp. The setback is a major blow to the Jaguars, who sit at 5–4 and relied heavily on Hunter’s rare ability to contribute on both offense and defense. Head coach Liam Coen said it’s “too early” to speculate on Hunter’s future as a two-way player but praised his work ethic and impact on the locker room. Hunter, who rose to prominence under Deion Sanders at Colorado and Jackson State, had quickly become one of the NFL’s most exciting young talents. His focus now shifts to rehab, with both the Jaguars and fans around the league eagerly awaiting his return in 2026.
