[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hat I love the most about the Pre-Fashion Week phase is how it births an army of ‘thinking’ designers who debut rather impressive offerings. Joining the ranks today is none other than burgeoning womenswear label, Woman by Aisha which has been seen on celebrities and personalities like singer Waje, ex-beauty queen Unoaku Anyadike and actress Linda Ejiofor. Inspired by the evolving life of women of different generations and using a mash up of fashion eras to tell a very cohesive and idealistic story, the fashion label, founded by Aisha Abioye, has flagged its first official collection. According to Aisha,

” I was inspired by the life of women, the beauty, the imperfection, the desire to grow, the strength through struggles, how time helps us evolve through our experiences and how these experiences gradually lights the pathway to finding ourselves.”

Using colour blocking, reworked LBD, off-the-shoulder, fringe details, oversize appeal, peplums, puffy sleeves and cut-out designs infused with old Hollywood glamour, Aisha has managed to establish a richly diverse yet convincingly coherent dialogue between a plethora of headlining trends and the eras which they reigned supreme. It takes a highly skilled fashion creative to interpret and express her minimal thoughts from an edgy perspective this budding designer has proven that she’s one. While each piece really does reflects her intentions, I love how this collection of reconstructed basics clearly juxtaposes the essence of retail and editorial perception at the same time.

Check out the entire collection and share your thoughts. A fashion hit or miss? We leave it to our Style Ravens to serve the verdict.
