Rising womenswear label, O’Saunders has released its “Jardins de Reve de Marie” (interpreted as Dreamy Gardens of Marie) narrative that debuted on the catwalks of the recent African Fashion Week Nigeria. According the label’s creative director, Olabisi Saunders “The collection was inspired by the beauty of Marie de Antoinette’s garden and we went literal but contemporary with it”.
Clearly a whole lot of hand and brain work was put into creating this one-of-a-kind narrative, the very feminine collection features hand-painted/handmade pieces with a ready-to-wear appeal. While the collection could have crossed the borderline of costume, I love how wearable and believable the pieces look without losing its essence of fantasy.
Love it or loathe it? We’ll leave the verdict to our Style Ravens.
