One of fashion’s most influential editors, Edward Enninful has been honoured with this year’s Global Voices Award at a gala organized by Business of Fashion otherwise known as BoF.
Edward Enninful, 47, who became the editor-in-Chief of British Vogue in August 2017, paved the way for a new era in the publication and also placed inclusivity and diversity at the centre of his agenda. The gala took place last Friday at the Soho Farmhouse’s Barnwell Barn which was beautifully transformed into a colourful representation of “Global London” where guests gathered to honour the renowned editor for his remarkable contributions to the global fashion industry as well as his impact on the wider fashion media landscape.
The gala, held to honour the Ghana-born Enninful, concluded this year’s VOICES, BoF’s annual gathering for creative minds, which brings together industry powerhouses, activists and career experts from around the world for a busy schedule of thought-provoking talks and agenda-setting discussions.
This year, the guests invited to the VOICES convention came from over 25 countries; a mix of C-suite executives, creatives and entrepreneurs from the fashion, beauty, media, technology, health and wellness industries and also academia and philanthropists.
For entertainment, Tiwa Savage, at the request of her friend, Edward Enninful, serenaded the guests at the BoF VOICES gala with her beautiful voice with songs from her Afrobeat lineup as guests sampled a menu of Italian-inspired wild sea bass mousseline, Indian roasted lamb spiced dhal, Jamaican-style jerk chicken and sour mango salad.

And at the end of the night, model Jourdan Dunn and Nigerian-born, London-based fashion designer Duro Olowu presented Enninful with his award. Dunn narrated her special relationship with the editor whom she had known since the very start of her career before he took to the stage to accept his award and reflect on the future of the fashion industry that he has helped to shape.
“I’m so grateful to be from London. A bold city, with all the colourful and creative people I grew up alongside, including many of you in this room,” the honoree said as he accepted his award. “London taught me the meaning of hard work, it challenged me, but sometimes when I failed, this city picked me up and inspired me. It gave me opportunities I could never have dreamt of, and lead me down paths to friends who are now family.”
“I’m so grateful to this industry and the community we now represent. A diverse and inclusive one. All of us are so excited for a whole new decade ahead.”
