e always love award shows because they offer enough reason to get dolled up, and we totally live for that! With the prestigious SAG and NAACP Image Awards taking place last week, Black women certainly ceased the opportunity to reinforce their glam game one “dolled up” moment at a time.
Beyond the red carpet, there was also the quest to make an unforgettable beauty statement in everyday activities. Take for example Gabrielle Union‘s vibrant pink lips wgich perfectly matched her Ankara scarf for one bold closet selfie! Last week proved once again that black women understand the glam game and would be retiring no time soon.
The Looks

The beauty industry is notorious for its fast pace with trends often shifting before many can catch up. However, one trend that seems to be immune to the rapid changes is the smokey eye look, and for good reason. Any look that so perfectly plays up a woman’s eyes might as well be our constant factor. Once again, smokey eyes stole the show; this time on sensational actress, Kerry Washington as she glowed at the SAG Awards.
Marsai Martin took effortless face beat to a whole new level as she showed up for the NAACP Image Awards in a peach-y look. The look features wildly brushed brows, peach and black eye shadow, as well as a hint of peach lip stain. All the elements came together beautifully to amplify her cute appeal.
Hair
A daring hairstyle is always a scintillating addition to any red carpet, and last week’s moment came courtesy of two Black women playing at both ends of the spectrum. On one end, Yvonne Orji wowed us in a crew cut that made us certain we needed a big chop. On the other end, Meagan Good brought her locs out to play at the NAACP Image Awards. Both hairstyles, despite the disparity, played their respective roles in crowning the glam game of these Black women.
