There are moments when it seems the most fashionable Black men around the globe are on the same page with their looks, and times when the stars rest at opposite ends of the spectrum. The Looks
Both options were appealing, but the late-night circuit was dominated by unconventional takes on cocktail outfits. During the week, actor Adenola Adepetun shared with his followers his explosive take on cocktail attire. In a jet-black silk shirt with a tie-neck collar which was paired with a pair of wide-leg pants with sequin, the star was able to prove that traditional formal attires were out and unconventional takes were in. He added a pop by layering with a white blazer and finished off with a pair of black leather boots. The piece perfectly captured his daring style.
On the other end of the spectrum, fashion influencer Shannon Flaunder sent a message that contrary to popular opinion, men’s fashion is not boring to those who dare to take risks. His BooHoo Man shearling coat — a piece of clothing making a return which is likely to be a big trend in 2022 and 2023 per fashion week — was as impressive as his entire outfit. Paired with a two-piece coordinating set from Alyx Studio and a pair of black boots from Balenciaga, the look took on a new verve; a shining example of why great fashion doesn’t have an expiration date. He further accessorized with an off-white Off White (see what we did there?) crossbody bag and a pair of statement sunglasses.
So far, 2022 has been nothing short of fashion. Last week, Black men took their outfits up a notch and have been committed to leaning into statement-making style.
