Big Brother Nigeria to Resume After 10 Year Hiatus, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu Named Host

It’s no longer news that Big Brother Nigeria is back again, after 10 years hiatus. The Managing Director of Multichoice Nigeria, Mr John Ube hinted recently that the show, a fave for many, will now be known as Big Brother Naija.

However, reports reaching us says the program will be produced from South Africa and streamed to Nigeria. How sad! ?

The headline of this article seems like I'm shouting right? Well, in my head I am . A program that will be watched by Nigerians, paid for by Nigerians: Just like The Voice, BBN will be coming to us LIVE from S.A. I know right, huge IRONY. How can we blame them? Asides from all other extra costs that'll be accrued due to lack of infrastructure, because we cannot rely on PHCN, To provide uninterrupted live TV, the producers have to run on generator 24/7 for 100 days! We don't need extra sense at all to decipher the estimated cost for this. Diesel is N270 per liter . This is such a slap in our face. And this is what we call "see finish". Nigerians are naturally braggarts when it comes to defending our country to outsiders but in this instance, I wouldn't know what to say to a South African if they throw this shame in my face. Why can't the government help this type of show to succeed instead of allowing such huge revenue slip out of our hands? How about the opportunity this show would have provided for the unemployed? There's so much potential in our local industry but no policy to back them up! . I don't have a proper conclusion for this article, as I myself have become deflated simply thinking about where we go from here . I'll be watching and updating here as I know a lot of Nigerians love Big Brother. Fingers crossed, I hope the show will be worth the 10year wait. Will you be watching? . #DANG

On the brighter side though, former Housemate, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has been tipped to be the Host for this year’s show.

We found this on his Instagram timeline:

The show, sponsored by PayPorte is offering a cash prize of N25m and a new KIA Sorento car to the eventual winner.

Big Brother Naija is scheduled to air Sunday, January 22 at 7 pm and will run for 11 weeks on all DStv packages on channel 198 and GOtv Plus on channel 29.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope the hiatus was worth the wait!
