Week after week, the Lasgidi sartorial sauce retains a seasoned flavor. Some opt for conservative takes, while others choose a spicy approach — whichever the case, the results are a constantly haute serving in the ever-morphing fashion landscape. From the gram to the streets and the 2023 Afriff Awards’ red carpet, Nigerian celebrities undeniably raise the bar, and others humbly follow.

Check out the chic looks spotted on Naija stars at the 2023 Afriff Awards and other events…

#1. Surreal whites

For the AMMA Awards, Mercy Aigbe was an ethereal sight in an all-white outfit. The look, a sheer statement blouse and wide-leg pants from Anjy Luminee couture, was the correct way to grace the event. Crisp and immaculate, Aigbe’s white outfit radiated a timeless opulence, like a whisper of serenity woven into fabric.

#2. Velvet plush

Next is none other than Nse Ikpe Etim and her graceful outfit to the 2023 Afriff Awards. The actress spoke of elegance in a black velvet dress with asymmetric drapes by Vicnate, paired with an embellished purse and heeled sandals. For jewelry, she opted for diamond earrings and a bracelet that added more shine to the conversation. Indeed, this offering enveloped the star girl in an aura of timeless elegance.

#3. Swirls and a bow

Nigerian actress, Ini Dima Okojie was spotted in a Derin Fabikun print dress that did her body justice. The printed satin and lace dress flaunted drapes on the waist and the bust area in such a way that evoked dainty femininity. The supporting star of the ensemble was her bow-shaped headgear that sat proudly like a crown.

#4. Luxe sheen

At this point, Angel Obasi needs no introduction in Nigerian style conversations, and this offering explains why. Recently, the style star shone in a majestic gold and black draped pant set from Isi Atagamen. The elbow-length sleeves and plunging neckline revealed enough skin to up the ante. She completed the look with a beaded purse, dainty jewelry, oversized sunglasses, and her signature hat.

#5. Texture blend

Who would wear (and create) such an attention-demanding number? Jennifer Oseh, of course. Recently, the fashion designer (and influencer) stepped out to turn heads in a colorful kaftan from her line, Wild Kulture. The dress seamlessly blended textures –satin, aso-oke, and Ankara — in such a way that gave a nod to the vibrant culture of Nigeria. Oseh styled this look with a statement pink hat, pearl jewelry, and oversized sunglasses that heralded her maximalist approach to fashion.

#6. Mono sleeves

Beverly Naya wore a one-shoulder midi dress by S.B. Youme to the 2023 Afriff Awards. The printed number with a draw-string slit boasted a statement puffy sleeve for maximum impact. The actress completed the look with gold oversized hoop earrings and simple sandals, resulting in an easy-on-the-eye ensemble.

#7. Robes and raffia

For the GTCO fashion weekend, Lola Ogunnaike opted for a tie-and-dye robe with raffia fringes at the sleeve ends and hems. The blue and white robe was paired with peach wide-leg pants and matching shoes for a balancing effect. Ogunnaike embodied Africanism by infusing tie-dye and raffia to create an eccentric offering. To match the color of the raffia, she slipped a beige bag into the mix.
