ey pumpkins! The bright side about Halloween being a week starter is that we get to reminisce about it all week long. This is literally the only time being spooky is a mainstream affair, and the best thing about Halloween (aside from trick or treating, of course) is the freedom of expression a costume wields. The celebrity Halloween costumes of 2022 have been a delight to behold, as your faves set off Halloweekend in interesting TV character personalities and eerie getups.

For one, the Jenner-Kardashian clan had this year’s spooky season costumes on lockdown, with Kim Kardashian stepping into character as Mystique and Kendall Jenner pulling off a sultry toy story redo effortlessly. From party costumes to Instagram photo shoots, celebrities like Keke Palmer were pretty stoked about this year’s spooky season—and so were we.

Check out these celebrity Halloween costumes of 2022, which were anything but laissez-faire…

As in other years before now, Sean Combs, a.k.a Love, took his Halloween performance as no joke. The unrecognizable legendary rapper walked the streets of Los Angeles clad in a full Joker (The Clown Prince of Crime) costume. The 52-year-old star made the look complete with an actual flame thrower.

He stepped into Joker’s character enough to bump into Power star Michael J. Ferguson, who obviously didn’t recognize him. The two almost got into a squabble, but that didn’t stop Love from running around the city in his color block purple and green costume in mischievous spirits typical of the character he mimicked.

#2. Kim Kardashian as Mystique

Kim K has always been one to get people talking, and when she headed out to Blackish star Tracee Ellis Ross 50th birthday in a Blue Vex Latex costume as X-Men’s Mystique, the internet had no other direction but to go wild. Fans called out Marvel to cast the Kardashian for the next Mystique role, and Kim K showed interest in this interesting theatrical exploit.

One of the best celebrity Halloween costumes of 2022 was rapper Cardi B in a sexy bodysuit as Marge Simpson. It’s always in character for the star girl to deliver sass, and she did so to the Simpson matriarch’s otherwise understated ensemble. Covered in yellow paint and blue hair, Cardi bodied a green body suit and red accessories which showed off her elaborate peacock tattoo.

#4. Latto as Emily the Corpse Bride

Artiste Big Latto ate up Halloween in a Seth Pratt dress with rib (literal) details. The star nailed this look from head to toe with blue hair, a blue face, and a skeleton in place of her leg. Tim Burton must be proud of this remake as Latto delivered big spooky energy.

There are celebrity Halloween costumes of 2022, and then there is the hands-down-perfect Kourtney and Travis’ 1998 Bride of Chucky eerie sartorial rendition. The Kardashian emphasized her recent edgy fashion taste in a Namesake motorcycle jacket, custom choker necklace by Costolo, and chunky black Rick Owens boots, but softened the look with a big white veil. Barker, on the other hand, nailed his Chucky get-up with a red wig, striped vintage shirt, and denim overalls customized by Samuel Ososki.

#6. Keke Palmer as Rapunzel

Keke embodied the role of Rapunzel and then put her twist on it. The star donned luxuriously lengthy box braids and was Rapunzel from the “Southside.” In a skit she shared on Instagram, the actress sprinkled her wit and humor into the Disney character’s naive beauty, and the result was a masterpiece.

#7. Halle Bailey as Neytiri from “Avatar”

Halle Bailey took to Instagram to conquer all tell tales in a full-on Neytiri costume. The star licked the plate clean on this Avatar getup. It’s arguably one of the best celebrity Halloween costumes of 2022 that stood out in a space of its own, and her boyfriend DDG, doubling as Jake Sully, made it a more sensational turnout.

Quick tip: Couple Halloween looks are something to always look out for.

A major throwback will always be welcome at the fashion table, and Hailey Bieber bringing back the 1999 YSL Haute Couture floral runway look is proof of why “old but gold” is a relevant style lingua. Hailey, 25, posed with light pink roses and green leaves wrapped around her body and in the form of a crown.

What’s more alien than showing up in blue skin, floor-length tentacles, and a latex skirt for Halloween? Trust Monáe to put her spin on anything she wears. The diva executed The Fifth Element’s Diva Plavalaguna look flawlessly. The garment was an ultimately brilliant disguise, and the future isn’t ready.

Posing in a revamped cover of Lionel Richie‘s self-titled 1982 debut album, Washington performed one of Richie’s hit singles, “You Are” on Instagram. Washington, in a green cardigan and white pants with the singer’s iconic mustache and afro mane, was a huge Halloween highlight that even the singer’s daughter Nicole Richie approved of.

Karrueche‘s alien Superstar custom piece channeled her inner Beyonce, and the Bey-hive gave an approving nod. The star girl was heavily clad in a futuristic metallic alien suit with laser-nipple gear. This look popped in brightly colored makeup, and we reckon that Queen Bey must be proud of this one.
