vonne Orji broke onto our screens in 2014 with HBO’s hit series, “Insecure” created by Issa Rae. In the show, she plays the role of Molly — a successful lawyer who struggles with relationships and self-doubt. Insecure was praised for its honest and nuanced portrayal of black women’s lives as it chronicled the ups and downs experienced in the city of Los Angeles. Orji’s performance as Molly has been widely acclaimed, leading to nominations for several awards including an Emmy and a Critics’ Choice. From the steamy sex scenes to the unapologetic flings, the lawyer knew how to get kinky. So imagine how shocked we all were when Yvonne Orji revealed that she’s still a virgin. What?!

Is Yvonne Orji still a virgin?

On a September episode of Chelsea Handler’s Dear Chelsea podcast, which is now going viral, Orji revealed that she’s still a virgin, responding to a question by the host. “Are you still a virgin?” Handler asked Orji. “I am,” she responded. “Oh my God I love this,” Handler answered back and continued “This is the most original guest we’ve ever had. And what are you, 39? Oh my God. That dam is going to break one day, baby.”

Orji went further to ask the audience to pray for her man because she has a lot of pent-up energy which was left by her decision to remain a virgin. “People were like, ‘Oh Yvonne.’ … Pray for him, whoever he is,” she said. “There’s a lot of pent-up energy up in here with me.”

While Yvonne Orji’s virginity may come as a surprise to many, considering that she works in Hollywood, those who have followed the actress may not be so surprised. For one, this isn’t her first time openly talking about her virginity. Back in 2017, the Bamboozled by Jesus author revealed that she’s still a virgin in an interview with People. Furthermore, Orji has been vocal about her unwavering faith in Jesus. Perhaps, this is the primary reason for being a virgin at 39 — a religion-based decision to remain celibate until marriage.

Handler went further to suggest that Orji will hit her “sexual peak” when she begins to have sex, so she’ll “need a couple of men, probably.” Orji laughed, “Yvonne went from being a virgin to polyamory.”

Yvonne Orji once shared that before all the fame happened, she had asked God how best to represent him while still on earth, and that deciding to be a virgin until marriage was the best decision she has made for herself. According to the actress, she gets a lot of questions concerning her virginity and she always answers with a smile on her face.

Orji has been in relationships but has managed to keep a tight lid on her love life. This has led to many poking holes in this revelation. The debates about what virginity truly is have been wild on the streets. From podcast hosts to viewers in comment sections, folks are having a field day dissecting the possibilities of keeping your cookie this long. “Is she helping herself?” some ask. “Is it just penetration?” others wonder. “Are they doing everything else but ‘enter?'” an Instagram user piqued. While these questions may seem unnecessary, they serve as a mirror of our society — where chastity is hard to believe.
