Michelle Obama has released her 2020 Workout Playlist. The Playlist which was released Sunday contains 36 hit songs from renowned musicians around the world, including one of Nigeria’s hottest sensation, Burna Boy and Houston-based rapper of Nigerian decent, Tobe Nwigwe.
Fast-rising young singer, Rema had previously made Michelle and Barack Obama’s 2019 Summer playlists in the past. So it’s no longer a surprise to know that the Obama’s are huge fans of Afrobeats music by Nigerian artistes.
Michelle Obama who celebrated her 56th birthday on January 17 is hoping to inspire lots of exercising in the new year by sharing her 2020 workout playlist. “It’s about that time when New Year’s resolutions get a bit harder to stick to,” Michelle captioned the list on social media. “To offer a little inspiration, I want to share my go-to #WorkoutPlaylist with you. These songs always seem to give me that extra boost to get through my toughest workouts. What’s on your playlist?”
‘My Money, My Baby’ and ‘I’m Dope’ by Burna boy and Tobe Nwigwe respectively, are the two songs repping Nigeria on the list. ‘My Money, My Baby’ was released in 2019 under the album Queen & Slim (Original Motion Picture Score). The song is an Afrobeat track that takes inspiration from Fela Kuti’s 1972 hit song, ‘Shakara.’ ‘I’m Dope’ is one of the singles on Tobe Nwigwe’s 2018 album ‘The Originals’ which was dedicated to his African roots.
