The Weeknd has officially announced his highly anticipated sixth studio album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow.” This marks the first full-length project from the Canadian superstar since his critically acclaimed 2022 album, “Dawn FM.” The previous album, which featured collaborations with Swedish House Mafia, Lil Wayne, and Tyler, The Creator, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and secured a platinum certification in the United States. Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music, and now, two years later, The Weeknd is ready to deliver with this mysterious new body of work.
On Wednesday, September 4, The Weeknd took to YouTube and social media to reveal the album’s title, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” accompanied by a cryptic message that delves into themes of time, distortion, and hidden truths. “Yesterday was 14 years ago. We held our breath, falling into a shimmering sea in the after-hours of the night. Attempted to cleanse the wounds with melodies and lights, a bulletproof bandage to shield what lies beneath,” the message reads, painting a vivid, enigmatic picture. The statement continues, “In a place where the seasons never changed, where time ceased to exist. But therein lies the problem. Today has felt like an endless spin. I keep distorting the truth, immune to the dizziness, numb to the nausea. What lies beneath – screams in silence.”
2. Ayra Starr demands justice for slain student, condemns gender-based violence
Stop killing us ! Stop raping us ! Women deserve better #JusticeForChristianah

Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has demanded justice for Idowu Christianah, a 300-level student of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), who was brutally murdered by her friend, Ayomide Adeleye. In a powerful statement shared on her official X page, the artist condemned the horrific act and called for swift justice not only for Christianah but also for other victims of gender-based violence. Ayra Starr expressed her outrage, stressing the need for men to stop killing and assaulting women, and emphasized that women deserve better protection and respect in society.
The singer’s call for justice follows the shocking revelation that Adeleye, who had been friends with Christianah, had a history of violent crimes, including the murders of his ex-girlfriend and his own sister in 2018 and 2020, respectively. This latest tragedy has sparked widespread anger and calls for more stringent measures against gender-based violence in Nigeria. Ayra Starr’s message underscores the urgency of addressing these heinous acts and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their crimes.
3. Ugandan Olympic runner Rebecca Cheptegei dies after allegedly being set on fire by boyfriend
Domestic violence has no place in society and for top female athletes, it is becoming increasingly fatal especially with jealous partners.

Olympic marathon runner Rebecca Cheptegei of Uganda has tragically passed away at the age of 33, after suffering severe burns in a brutal attack allegedly carried out by her boyfriend. Ugandan athletics officials announced on Thursday, September 5, that Cheptegei died in a Kenyan hospital, where she was being treated for burns covering 80 percent of her body. The attack, which reportedly stemmed from a dispute over land, occurred just four days before her death, leading to fatal organ failure. According to police reports, the accused, Dickson Ndiema, doused Cheptegei in gasoline and set her on fire during a heated argument outside their home in Trans Nzoia County, Kenya.
The tragic news has shocked the athletics community and sparked widespread condemnation. Ugandan Olympic Committee President Donald Rukare expressed his sorrow and outrage, denouncing the violence in a heartfelt social media post. “This was a cowardly and senseless act that has led to the loss of a great athlete. Her legacy will continue to endure,” Rukare wrote. Cheptegei, who finished 44th in the marathon at the 2024 Paris Olympics, was a beloved figure in the running community. Her death underscores the alarming rates of violence against women in Kenya, where nearly 34% of women aged 15 to 49 have experienced physical violence.

Jamie Foxx is set to make a triumphant return to the stage with his new one-man comedy show, “One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx,” where he will candidly address his widely publicized 2023 health scare. The Oscar-winning actor and singer announced the show, which will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, from Thursday, October 3 to Sunday, October 5. The show promises to be a blend of humor, heart, and inspiration as Foxx opens up about his experience, offering fans a chance to see him in a new light. In an Instagram post teasing the event, Foxx shared an image of a black box with the words “WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS,” hinting at the personal stories and reflections that will be at the core of this intimate performance.
Foxx’s return to the stage comes six months after his appearance at the 7th Annual AAFCA Special Achievement Awards, where he first hinted at addressing his health journey in a forthcoming comedy special. The Texas native’s health scare was initially revealed by his daughter, Corinne Foxx, in April 2023, when she shared news of his “medical complication” on social media. Foxx was hospitalized for several weeks, and updates on his condition were scarce until he addressed his fans in July 2023.

Esther Nworgu has won Nigeria’s second medal at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Paris, claiming a silver in the women’s up to 41kg Para-Powerlifting event. Nworgu’s impressive performance saw her set two new Paralympic Records in her final two attempts, lifting 112kg and 118kg, respectively. Despite her remarkable efforts, she was narrowly edged out by China’s Zhe Cui, who clinched the gold with a record-breaking 119kg lift. Nworgu’s journey to the silver medal was marked by a strong start with a 106kg lift, followed by consistent improvements, which solidified her position as one of the top contenders in the event.
Nworgu’s silver medal adds to the momentum for Team Nigeria at the Paris Paralympics, a much-needed boost following the country’s disappointing outing at the Olympic Games just weeks prior. Earlier in the week, Eniola Bolaji secured Nigeria’s first medal in Paris, making history as the first African to win a Paralympic or Olympic medal in Badminton by defeating Ukraine’s Oksana Kozyna to claim bronze. As the Paralympics progress, there is growing anticipation among fans and supporters that Nigeria’s Paralympic team will continue to deliver, potentially surpassing their medal tally from the Tokyo Games, where they brought home 10 medals, including four golds.
