Who gave us fashion goals all through 2018? We’ve got a list and no, we are not buttering up at all. These women deserve to earn a spot because they put in the work. When it came down to delivering styles that were outrageously elegant these African stars were on top of the fashion chain.

15. Vimbai Mutinhiri


There were no holdbacks for the Lagos-based Zimbabwean TV host. We’ve always known Vimbai to be one who loves the art of dressing up and this year she took it to a whole new level as she focused more on fluid dresses and patterns while pulling off boundary-pushing outfits.

14. Bettinah Tianah

Ugandan TV girl shocked the social media streets with her style delivery in 2018. Clean cuts, sexy aesthetics and bodycon dresses were never lacking in her wardrobe. Her looks were memorable and classy – whether she was on or off the red carpet. There is no doubt that Bettinah will continue in her style take-over in 2019 as she did this year.

When it comes to making sartorial choices, Nigerian actress Rita Dominic goes by her mood. When this Nigerian serial entrepreneur steps out, she does so confidently and in something super stylish. Toke Makinwa is dedicated to the authenticity of fashion. Whether she’s wearing local or international designers, there isn’t much of a difference as the style star presents her ensemble in ways that make us mutter #stylegoals every time.

4. Zynnell Lydia Zuh

You could say this Ghanaian actress and filmmaker is literally trying to redefine fashion here in Africa. From January right up till now (December), Zynnell Lydia Zuh hasn’t slowed down. With every upload or red carpet moment, she keeps getting better and better, delivering sophistication and class as we’ve never seen before.

We all know what it means to have a timeless sense of style right? Well, if you don’t then a look at South African image consultant Kefilwe will provide you with the answer. Kefilwe has been in the game for years, so making the right fashion choices is probably no big deal for her.

2. Og Okonkwo


The key to a memorable look is a fantastic piece from Og Okonkwo, creative director of Nigerian womenswear brand Style Temple. Every look she stepped out in this year left us in awe. Her style is as authentic and as fresh as you can get and now we know why celebrities love her and her brand.

Who lands at the top of our list other than the boundary-pushing, larger than life South African business and media mogul Bonang Matheba. The queen of “give the people what they want” expresses herself with words as much as with fashion. This year alone she shocked us with internet-breaking, show-stopping ensembles that have left us wondering “how does she do it?” It’s no mistake that the queen lands on top of our list. She truly is a whole “MOOD” and then some!
