Grammy-winning artist SZA is extending her generosity to Los Angeles families in need by partnering with beloved local restaurant Jon & Vinny’s to provide 1,400 meals to SNAP recipients affected by the recent government shutdown. The singer announced the initiative on November 10 via social media, sharing her excitement for giving back to her community. “Y’all know how much I love Jon & Vinny’s!! But it ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none!!” she wrote. Starting Tuesday, November 11, through November 18, SZA and Jon & Vinny’s will distribute 100 meals for two per day at the restaurant’s Slauson Avenue location from 3 to 5 p.m. PT. Recipients can request meals by emailing [email protected], with each family eligible for up to four meals.
The effort is part of SZA’s ongoing work through her initiative NOT Charity, launched in April with the mission to nourish underserved communities through holistic, sustainable solutions. “This is not charity, this is community,” SZA said when introducing the organization earlier this year. “Communities are built together, a constant helping of each other and a wider understanding of human needs.” Her latest partnership continues that mission, blending compassion with action to address food insecurity across Los Angeles. In a statement shared by the restaurant, Jon & Vinny’s praised the collaboration, writing, “Thank you, SZA, for inspiring all of us to be there for our neighbors.”

Afrobeat icon Wizkid’s first son, Boluwatife Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Tife Balogun, has officially stepped into the music scene with the release of his debut extended play (EP) titled Champion’s Arrival. The 14-year-old rising artist announced the milestone on Tuesday through an Instagram post, saying, “The Champion has arrived. My debut EP “Champion’s Arrival” is out now on all platforms.” The five-track project features songs titled “Champion Montana,” “Grind,” “Superstar,” “Champion Sound,” and “Champiano,” all available on major streaming platforms.
The release follows weeks of anticipation after Tife, who performs under the stage name Champz, teased the project on October 28 with a confident Instagram video that quickly caught attention. In the clip, he declared, “Shoutout to the OGs in the game, but it’s time to pass on the baton,” signaling his readiness to carve his own path in the Afrobeat world. His mother, Shola Ogudu, proudly celebrated the moment online, writing, “Super proud of you SON!!!! We give God all the glory,” while linking the EP in her bio. With Champion’s Arrival, Tife Balogun makes a bold first statement, hinting at a promising musical journey that could continue his father’s legacy while establishing his own sound and identity.
3. Writer David Szalay Wins Prestigious Booker Prize for Fiction

Canadian-Hungarian-British author David Szalay has been awarded the 2025 Booker Prize for Fiction for his novel Flesh, a deeply introspective story exploring the life of an ordinary man across several decades. The 51-year-old writer triumphed over five other finalists, including frontrunners Andrew Miller and Kiran Desai, to claim the prestigious £50,000 ($66,000) award. Chosen from 153 submitted works, Flesh was unanimously selected by a judging panel chaired by Irish novelist Roddy Doyle, with members including actor Sarah Jessica Parker. Doyle described the book as “about living, and the strangeness of living,” praising its subtle storytelling and emotional depth.
Szalay accepted the prize at London’s Old Billingsgate, thanking the judges for recognizing what he called a “risky” novel. Flesh follows István, a quiet Hungarian immigrant whose life—from a youthful affair to his years in London high society—unfolds in fragments, with much left unsaid. Critics lauded the novel’s sparse prose and understated power, though some were frustrated by its refusal to explain key moments, including István’s imprisonment and time in Iraq. Doyle said the book shines a light on a rare literary subject: the working-class man. “If the gaps were filled, it would be less of a book,” he noted. Szalay, who previously made the Booker shortlist in 2016 for All That Man Is, joins the ranks of past winners such as Margaret Atwood, Salman Rushdie, and Arundhati Roy, further cementing his place as one of contemporary literature’s most distinctive voices.

Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has officially confirmed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will mark the final appearance of his illustrious international career. Speaking at a tourism forum in Riyadh, the 40-year-old Portuguese star said, “Yes, for sure, I will be 41 years old and I think that will be the time,” referring to his last World Cup. The tournament, set to take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will see Ronaldo make a record-breaking sixth World Cup appearance, capping off more than two decades of representing Portugal at the highest level. Despite hinting at retirement, the Al-Nassr forward maintains that he’s still enjoying every moment on the pitch, telling reporters, “I’m 40 years old, I try to enjoy the moment and move forward. My body is in good shape, I think. As for my performance with the national team, I score goals and help the team. I want to win titles. This is my life.”
Ronaldo, who extended his contract with Al-Nassr through 2027, remains determined to chase both domestic and international silverware before hanging up his boots. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner joked about his longevity, telling Piers Morgan that when he says retirement is coming “soon,” it could still be “another 10 years.” With over 950 career goals and counting, Ronaldo continues to inspire fans around the world, and his dream of lifting the World Cup trophy remains alive. While he insists he doesn’t need to emulate Lionel Messi’s 2022 triumph to cement his legacy, the Portuguese captain is clearly intent on one last dance on football’s grandest stage. He looks to end his career with the only major title missing from his glittering résumé.
