Selena Gomez is reportedly exploring an IPO or sale for her mega-successful beauty brand, Rare Beauty. Launched in 2020, the cosmetics company, just like Rihanna’s Fenty, is one of the success stories of the celebrity beauty boom. Gomez’s possible sales ambitions came to light in a recent Bloomberg piece as well as a separate article from The Business of Fashion.
Rare Beauty, inspired by the singer’s third studio album, seeks to break “down unrealistic standards of perfection.” According to its website, it’s makeup that is “made to feel good in, without hiding what makes you unique—because Rare Beauty is not about being someone else, but being who you are”. From the popular $23 liquid blushes to its $26 bronzer sticks, this beauty line offers a slew of items customers can’t get enough of.
The craze for Rare Beauty is evident in its bottom line. As per Business of Fashion, which cited anonymous sources with knowledge of the matter, Rare’s net sales topped $400 million during the 12 months that ended in February 2024. The same publication also highlighted its international appeal, stating that “nearly half” of its sales come “from international markets.”
Although neither the 31-year-old nor her team have commented on the reports as of press time, advisers have reportedly been brought aboard to explore the possible sale or an investment, and Gomez reportedly intends to remain involved with the company even if a deal wraps.
2. Shakira says it’s ‘good’ not to have a husband
Shakira Says It's 'Good' Not to Have a Husband: 'It Was Dragging Me Down' https://t.co/uoUyILtVyT

In a recent conversation with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Shakira, 47, talked about why she chose not to get married. “In a way, it’s kind of good not to have a husband because that… I don’t know why it was dragging me down, man,” she said.
The singer had previously revealed that she put her career on hold for her footballer ex, and reflecting on it, called it a “sacrifice for love“. “Now I feel like working. I feel like writing songs. I feel like making music. It’s a compulsive need of mine that I didn’t feel before,” Shakira said, adding, “When life gives you lemons, you have to make lemonade.”
Shakira will release her 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore) on March 22. And in her album, she has emphasized her transformation journey. “The album will represent the transformation of pain into creativity, frustration into productivity, anger into passion, vulnerability into resilience,” she said.
It’s been more than two years since Shakira announced her breakup with her footballer ex-boyfriend, Gerard Piqué Bernabeu. The duo dated for 11 years, and during their time together, they welcomed two songs: Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9.

Larsa Pippen, 49, and Marcus Jordan, 33, have split — again. The ‘Real Housewives of Miami’ star has reportedly called time on their relationship, just a month after they reconciled following a brief separation, because the pair want “different things out of life“, though things remain amicable between them.
A source told ‘Entertainment Tonight’ that “Larsa realized this relationship is just not the one for her after spending some more time apart, filming a new show. She wants to move on and focus on improving her life. They simply want different things out of life.”
While neither Larsa nor Marcus has directly commented on the news, the 49-year-old reality star recently shared a cryptic message on Instagram alongside a selfie: “Humble enough to know I can lose it all. Confident enough to know I can get it all back.”

5. Richard Hughes named as new Liverpool sporting director
We can confirm the appointment of Richard Hughes as the club’s new sporting director, a post he will take up at the end of the 2023-24 season.
— Liverpool FC (@LFC) March 20, 2024
Liverpool have confirmed the appointment of Richard Hughes as their new sporting director. Hughes, who announced this month he would leave his role as Bournemouth’s technical director at the end of the season, will officially take up his new role on the 1st of June.
Michael Edwards, recently appointed as Fenway Sports Group’s chief executive of football, has had a longstanding desire to work with Hughes, and they have a professional and personal relationship spanning more than 20 years, having worked together during Hughes’s playing career at Portsmouth.
It is understood that when Julian Ward left his role as Liverpool’s sporting director last summer Edwards was surprised Hughes was not one of the candidates to be interviewed by club owners FSG.
“I am incredibly proud to be offered this opportunity. Liverpool FC is a unique club and I’m grateful to be given a chance to serve it in this capacity,” Hughes told the club’s website. “People rightly talk about the rich history this organization can boast, but it is the present and future which really excites me,” he added.
