1. Nick Cannon confirms seventh child is on the way

On Father’s Day (June 20), Nick Cannon confirmed that he’s expecting his seventh child with model Alyssa Scott. The couple appeared in a photo posted on Scott’s Instagram Story. It shows a shirtless Cannon holding her baby bump. “Celebrating you today,” she wrote to Cannon. Their son will be Nick Cannon’s fourth baby in a year and his seventh child.

This news comes on the heels of the recent birth of his twin sons, Zion Mixolydian Cannon and Zillion Heir Cannon, on June 14 by “Masked Singer host” Abby De La Rosa. Cannon also shares another set of twins, Moroccan and Monroe, 9, with his ex-wife Mariah Carey. He is also father to a 3-year-old boy, Golden, and a 6-month-old girl, Powerful Queen, whom he shares with Brittany Bell.

2. Lagos becomes second most stressful city to live in the world

New research by German firm Vaay has ranked Lagos as the second most stressful city globally for the year 2021. The result of the study was based on an index of 100 major global cities comprising over 15 factors, and each ranked on a scale from most to least stressful. Lagos, which ranked 99th on the list, was the only African city in the bottom 10 with an aggregate score of 19.9, while Reykjavik in Iceland ranked 1st with an aggregate score of 100.

Some other African cities on the list included Johannesburg, 49th; Algiers, 78th; Nairobi, 80th; Dakar, 84th; and Cairo in 88th position. The bottom five most stressful cities were Baghdad, New Delhi, Manila, Lagos, and Mumbai, while Reykjavik, Bern, Helsinki, Wellington, and Melbourne were the top five least stressful cities.

3. South Africa: Thuso Mbedu bags multiple award nominations for ‘The Underground Railroad’

South Africa actress Thuso Mbedu’s stellar performance in “The Underground Railroad” has earned her the Best TV Performance nomination in this year’s Dorian Awards. She is also nominated for Outstanding Actress in a TV Movie or Limited Series for Black Reel TV Awards.

“The Underground Railroad,” which Mbedu stars as lead Corah Randall, is also nominated for Outstanding TV Movie or Limited Series in this year’s Black Reel TV Awards. The winners for the Black Reel Awards will be announced on August 15, while the winners of the Dorian awards will be revealed on August 29.

4. Ghana ranked 2nd most peaceful country in Africa

Ghana has been ranked the second most peaceful country in Africa in the 2021 Global Peace Index report by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). The IEP is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit think tank dedicated to shifting the world’s focus to peace as a positive, achievable, and tangible measure of human well-being and progress.

A look at the snapshot of the global state of peace as captured in the report, Ghana is ranked 38th in the world out of the 163 countries reviewed. Ghana scored 1.715, which represents a two-point move upwards from the previous Global Peace Index report.

5. Usain Bolt welcomes newborn twin sons Thunder and Saint Leo

Sprinter Usain Bolt has had twin boys named Thunder Bolt and Saint Leo Bolt. Bolt, 34, announced the news on Instagram on Father’s Day, with a lightning bolt emoji next to each of his children’s names. The Olympic champion posted a photo of him and partner Kasi Bennett, with their twin boys and one-year-old daughter Olympia Lightning.

The couple did not say when exactly the twins were born. Bennett also posted a photo with the babies saying Bolt was “the rock of this family and the greatest daddy to our little ones.”
