In the snippet, he also dissed artistes who he accuses of using streaming farms to sustain their growth.

The Street-pop sensation has been compared by fans to superstar Asake, with whom he shares artistic similarities. The snippet has generated excitement from fans who are captivated by his catchy blend of Amapiano and Indigenous Yoruba music.

3. South Africa: Kelly Rowland praises DJ Uncle Waffles’ talent

Lungelihle “Uncle Waffles” Zwane is undeniably well acquainted when it comes to international stars — and the circle just keeps getting bigger. After Beyoncé’s co-sign where the Grammy award-winning artiste played her hit song “Tanzania” during her Renaissance world tour, the Amapiano sensation recently had another former Destiny’s Child member, singer Kelly Rowland, speak on how she’s been a supporter of the DJ for a year now. The American singer, a frequent visitor to South Africa, said she was happy to see Uncle Waffles added to the Coachella line-up this year.

“I love music. I listen to music all the time … It’s really cool to see artistes come up with new ways — like there’s this really cool DJ out right now, her name is Uncle Waffles and she’s got so much personality … she’s so cool, she just played at Coachella but I’ve been knowing about this girl for at least a year now,” she said during her sit-down on the Pretty Smart podcast.

4. NBA star Carmelo Anthony announces retirement

On Monday, May 22, NBA legend Carmelo Anthony announced his retirement. The 10-time All-Star shared the news through a heartfelt social media post, prompting Twitter users to celebrate his accomplishments following the bittersweet reveal. In the video shared by the Brooklyn native, he sat on a sofa reflecting on his 19-season career. “I remember the days when I had nothing. Just a ball on a court and a dream of something more. But basketball was my outlet. My purpose was strong, my communities, the cities I represented with pride, and the fans that supported me along the way. I am forever grateful for those people and places ‘cause they made me Carmelo Anthony,” he said as visuals from an impressive highlight reel played over his voice.

“But now, the time has come for me to say, ‘Goodbye,’” Anthony disclosed before sharing what’s next for him. The 38-year-old confessed that his legacy will live on through his son, Kiyan Carmelo Anthony. The video concluded with the proud father watching his 16-year-old play basketball.

5. Valencia launch investigation into racist abuse of Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior

Valencia are taking action after Vinicius Junior was a victim of racism at Estadio de Mestalla, and have started an official investigation into the incident, according to a club statement. The club also stated that they “publicly condemn insults and attacks of all kinds in football” but stressed that Sunday’s event was an “isolated episode.” Referee Ricardo De Burgos halted play in the 73rd minute of the La Liga clash between Valencia and Real Madrid after Vinicius highlighted fans who he claimed had racially abused him. After lengthy discussions with both Vinicius and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, the game continued and finished.

Following the match, Ancelotti emphasized that La Liga had a “racism problem” and demanded that the league take action against the attacks on his star winger. The coach also argued that the game had to be stopped and said he considered taking the Brazilian off the field amid the insults. Vinicius was eventually sent off when he slapped Valencia attacker Hugo Duro in the dying minutes of the game, which finished in a 1-0 win for Valencia. There have already been eight separate complaints filed over abuse of Vinicius this season and the player took to Twitter to voice his anger, saying that racism has become “normal” in La Liga.
