Last Week’s Best Dressed Stars Met Expectations In Unique Cuts

he permission to look your highest self can only be granted by you. Once you realize you wield the power to stare in the mirror and say, “Yes, I own the runway of my life and would strut accordingly,” then it’s game over. We all know that most celebrities and their glam teams understand this level of confidence. What better place to show it than on the Met Gala 2023 stairs and after-party, of course? In a sea of mesh, sheer, and all-things bling, the crème de la crème of Hollywood found a way to denote Karl Lagerfeld through unique and eccentric representations.

If there’s a night in fashion you can bet on, it’s the Met Gala. The theme was ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty,’ and it’s safe to say the celebs took their black-and-white game seriously. With eclectic expressions of bridal-themed frocks, overstated trains, neatly detailed structures, and distinct textures, the Met indeed met and surpassed expectations.

The Looks

Rihanna is the definition of growing and glowing on purpose. Apart from the audacious Valentino ensemble she arrived at the Met with, this sexy preggo also made a show in New York City in a Chrome Hearts crop top and embellished button-down skirt. The star’s cross-themed ensemble and strappy Amina Muaddi heels set this look in a class of its own. We can wildly infer that A$AP Rocky is one proud partner.

It was Cardi B‘s week, and trust her to herald the Barbicore trend with utmost passion. The rapper wore a stunning Miss Sohee dress with 27,000 hand-embroidered Swarovski crystals and pearls. The flex about this outfit? This was her ‘on the way to the Met’ look. It was a wonderful translation of Look 64 from Karl Lagerfeld‘s Fall 2008 Chanel Couture collection. And the flamboyant tulle Laurel DeWitt headpiece was the absolute truth.

If top model Anok Yai ever runs a masterclass on “How to Channel Your Black Girl Magic,” guess who’s getting front-row seats? The girl shone like a glass of delicious warm chocolate after a long day at work. She chose well to merge this magic with a designer who gets it. Designer Prabal Gurung had a good night at the Met as every look was a hit, especially Yai’s. The model was clad in one of the brand’s embellished charms. The hand-embroidered sequin dress with a sheer train and fringe hem married itself to her melanin. Simply put: she ATE.
