Peter Okoye’s wife Lola Omotayo has come out to speak on her experience with the dreaded coronavirus. In a video shared via her Instagram page on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, Lola Omotayo said she suffered and went through so much pain when she battled with coronavirus.

“I don’t wish this upon my worst enemy and I need to let everybody known that COVID is real. I suffered, I went through a lot of pain, I watched my family go through it and I really don’t wish this against my worst enemy,” she said.

She went on to caption the video with a post where she appealed to Nigerians to be careful as the virus is real.

2. Ghana: Forestry Commission boss Sir John is dead

The Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John is dead. He died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, after an illness.

Sir John, 63, recently lost a sister of his and went to perform the one-week rites in his hometown, Sakora Wonoo near Kumawu in the Ashanti Region. When he returned to Accra, he fell ill and was admitted to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. He reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and died on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

3. Tshegofatso Pule murder case postponed due to COVID-19 cases

The National Prosecutions Authority (NPA) said all cases which were meant to be heard at Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court have been put off to Thursday, July 9, 2020. There has been a delay in the case involving the man accused of murdering 29-year-old Tshegofatso Pule – with the matter now postponed due to positive cases of COVID-19.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), two police officers at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court tested positive for the coronavirus. 31-year-old Muzikayise Malephane is accused of savagely murdering Pule back in June. The heavily-pregnant woman’s body was discovered hanging from a tree in Roodepoort.

4. Jeffrey Epstein’s confidante, Ghislaine Maxwell, arrested by FBI

Ghislaine Maxwell, a British socialite and close friend of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, was arrested in the United States on Thursday on charges of helping to lure underage girls who were then sexually abused by Epstein.

Maxwell, who lived for years with Epstein, was taken into custody around 8:30 am in the state of New Hampshire, said FBI spokesman Marty Feely. Maxwell, 58, has been accused by many women of recruiting them to give Epstein massages, during which they were pressured into sex. Those accusations, until now, never resulted in criminal charges.

5. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is confident the striker’s contract will be renewed

Mikel Arteta says he is very positive Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign a new contract after he became the fastest Arsenal player to net 50 Premier League goals.

Gabon forward Aubameyang, 31, scored twice as the Gunners climbed to seventh with a 4-0 win over Norwich. His current contract expires at the end of the 2020-21 season.
