Best Beauty Looks Of The Week: Mary J. Blige, Ashanti And More

hen the stars show up in full glam, our day undeniably shines a bit brighter. This was the case last week as Black women across continents did justice to the word “slay” in unforgettable hairstyles and facebeats worthy of a slot on our list. As they performed hosting duties, showed up for events, or simply went about their day, they did so serving major hair and makeup inspirations we couldn’t possibly shake off. 

The Looks

Entertainment legend, Mary J. Blige, looked sensational in a smoky eye facebeat that so perfectly accentuated her brown eyes. The look features her full upper lids tinted in black shadow along with a dust of the same shade on her lower lids. In order to play up her eyes even further, the multiple award-winner opted for voluminous 3D lashes that added an extra edge to the look. For her lips, the serial hitmaker went the soft route with clear gloss that complemented the dramatic eyes. The result? A creative mix of fierce and subtle certainly fit for the queen that she is. 

Hair

What do we love more than a timeless center-part hairdo? An embellished one, of course! Luckily for us, music sensation Alicia Keys gave us just the right amount to last us the remainder of 2021. In her cover shoot for Glamour Germany, the multiple-award-winning singer/songwriter/pianist elevated the classic low-ponytail hairstyle with faux mabe-pearl embellishment. Beginning from her temples all the way to the braided ponytail, these tiny pearls gracefully decorated the entire hair and left no room for regular. Surely, Ms. Keys knows how to rock a magazine cover!
