A TV series adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s seminal novel “Things Fall Apart” is currently in development at A24 Studios, with Idris Elba set to star and executive produce. The news confirms that Elba will be producing the series alongside David Oyelowo, bringing Achebe’s influential work to the small screen. The novel, originally published in 1958, remains one of the most celebrated works of African literature, exploring the impact of British colonialism and Christian missionaries on traditional Igbo society through the life of its protagonist, Okonkwo.
While no writer has been confirmed for the series, Elba and Oyelowo will produce under their respective banners, 22Summers and Yoruba Saxon, alongside Gina Carter and Amanda N’Duka. A24, known for acclaimed productions such as Euphoria and Moonlight, will serve as the studio. The adaptation joins a lineage of previous renditions of Achebe’s work, including a 1980s miniseries featuring Nigerian actor Pete Edochie. With the involvement of renowned actors and producers, this latest adaptation is expected to introduce the timeless story to a new generation of viewers.
4. Naomi Campbell lashes out at ‘flawed’ watchdog probe after being banned from running charities

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has lashed out at the UK Charity Commission after being banned from running a charity for five years. The watchdog’s investigation into her organization, Fashion for Relief, uncovered “multiple instances of misconduct,” including the use of charity funds to cover luxury expenses such as her stay at a five-star hotel in the south of France. The inquiry, which spanned from April 2016 to July 2022, revealed that only 8.5% of the charity’s overall expenditure was allocated to charitable grants. As a result, Campbell, along with two other trustees, has been disqualified from charity management.
In a statement, Campbell criticized the findings as “deeply flawed” and stressed that while she is ultimately responsible as the charity’s figurehead, she was not involved in its day-to-day operations. The 54-year-old fashion icon revealed she has hired new advisers to investigate the situation further and hinted at a possible appeal. Fashion for Relief, which Campbell founded in 2005, has hosted high-profile fundraising events for various global causes, including child refugees and victims of natural disasters. Despite the Charity Commission’s ruling, Campbell maintains that she never received a fee nor billed personal expenses to the organization.

FIFA has officially announced that the 2026 World Cup Final will feature a Super Bowl-style halftime show, marking a first in the tournament’s history. The announcement was made during the Global Citizen Festival, where FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed the partnership between FIFA and Global Citizen, an organization known for using entertainment events to promote social causes. The collaboration will bring together the worlds of sport and entertainment, with the goal of promoting positive change and increasing access to football across the globe. Celebrities, including Hugh Jackman, DJ Khaled, and Gayle King, were present alongside Infantino and Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans during the announcement.
The decision to introduce a halftime show in the World Cup Final follows growing speculation about the possibility, especially after The New York Times raised the question earlier this year. The move, however, has sparked mixed reactions, with some doubting whether European audiences would embrace the extended halftime format typical of American NFL games. Despite this, FIFA and Global Citizen are pushing forward, with the show set to debut during the 2026 tournament. This halftime spectacle is part of a broader four-year partnership between the two organizations, which will also include joint initiatives aimed at driving social change through the global reach of football.
