1. Beyonce unveils tracklist for Renaissance, her upcoming seventh album

Beyonce has revealed the tracklist for her forthcoming seventh album Renaissance, which drops July 29, a week from this Friday. The tracklist, which was posted on her Instagram story and appears above, includes many intriguing titles like “America Has a Problem,” “Alien Superstar,” “Church Girl,” “Cuff It,” “Thique,” “All Up in Your Mind” and more, along with the single, “Break My Soul.”

Earlier this month the music icon shared the album’s cover artwork, which sees her posing regally atop the silhouette of a luminous horse. Late last month, Beyoncé surprise-dropped “Break My Soul,” the first single from the album.

2. Burna Boy breaks records on Billboard Charts

Afrobeats Megastar and Grammy winner Burna Boy has continued his stellar digital presence with impressive record-breaking performances on Billboard Charts. In the latest issues of Billboard Charts, Burna Boy became the first Nigerian artist to have three projects on the Billboard 200 with his new album “Love, Damini” joining Grammy-winning album “Twice As Tall” and Grammy-nominated album “African Giant” on the albums’ chart.

Burna Boy also became the artist with the most entries on the Billboard Afrobeats chart with 23 entries after all 19 tracks from “Love, Damini” debuted on the chart. Burna Boy’s “Love, Damini” has so far enjoyed impressive digital success globally.

3. South Africa: Busisiwe Lurayi’s life celebrated at memorial and funeral service

Family, friends, and colleagues gathered at Redemption Church, Greenstone on Wednesday to celebrate and bid farewell to their daughter, mother, friend, and thespian Busisiwe Lurayi. Busisiwe, popularly known for her stellar performances in “City Ses’la” and “How To Ruin Christmas,” died on Sunday. She was declared dead by paramedics on Sunday night after she was found by her father.

A memorial for the late actress was held at The Market Theatre on Tuesday, where Busi came alive on the same stage in productions including Nina Simone’s “Four Women,” “Paradise Blue” and “Frontiers.” Her friend and former co-star Warren Masemola couldn’t hold back tears when he stood on the podium to share about the life he lived with the late actress. He told the mourners gathered on Tuesday that Busi showered him with love that was very natural since the first day they met on set for “Ses’Topla.”

4. Nigeria election: Author Chimamanda backs Peter Obi

The famous Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has thrown her support behind the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the country’s February 2023 elections. The acclaimed writer announced the endorsement on Tuesday in a Facebook message to Obi on his birthday. She described the politician as “my dearest Big Bro” and spoke glowingly about Obi’s “hope and belief in what Nigeria could be.”

“Mummy called you her ‘first son,’ my siblings and I call you our ‘big bro,’ and I cannot wait to call you ‘My President’,” she wrote. “I cannot wait for February 25, 2023, when I, with personal pride in you and with hope for what Nigeria can become, will cast my vote for you and your running mate, Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.” Obi is a former governor of Anambra state with a reputation for frugality and sound management. Other key contenders in the race include the ruling All Progressive Congress’ (APC) Bola Tinubu and the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Atiku Abubakar.

5. Juventus confirm Gleison Bremer transfer in €50m move from Torino

Juventus have confirmed the transfer addition of Torino center-back Gleison Bremer in a deal worth up to €50 million (£42.5m/$51m), with the Brazilian signing a contract through 2027 with the Bianconeri. The Turin outfit had been locked in a race with Serie A rivals Inter for the 25-year-old’s services, following an impressive campaign across town at Torino. Now, in the wake of Matthijs de Ligt’s departure to Bayern Munich, Massimiliano Allegri’s side has got their man to plug the gap in their defensive line.

Bremer becomes the third major name through the door on a permanent basis at Allianz Stadium this summer — and the first to see Juve turn out their pockets too, having acquired Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba on free transfers. The 25-year-old’s arrival might just be the most important for Juve given the reshuffle in their defensive ranks though, with De Ligt having followed stalwart captain Giorgio Chiellini out of the door, with the latter having swapped Turin for California with Los Angeles FC.
