1. Nigeria: BBNaija’s Gedoni and Khafi expecting first child

Former Big Brother Naija housemates and couple, Gedoni and Khafi are expecting their first child together. The reality TV stars took to their Instagram pages on Wednesday, July 21, to announce the big news. “Slow Down Bump ahead.. ?? I’m the happiest Man on this planet. The way God is particular about me ehn,” Gedoni wrote.

For Khafi, the pregnancy rumors surrounding her in the past two years have become a reality. “According to some of you here, I have been pregnant for the past two years.? I’m glad to say your predictions have finally come true! I couldn’t be happier.?#BabyKhadoni2021,” she wrote.

Congratulations to the couple. Khafi pregnant. 

2. Michaela Coel joins Black Panther 2 cast

Creator and star of “I May Destroy You,” Michaela Coel has been cast in Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” According to reports, Coel joined the production at Atlanta’s Pinewood Studios, where director Ryan Coogler started production last month. The sequel will premiere in theaters on July 8, 2022.

Just last week, London-born Coel, 33, was nominated for a 2021 Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie for her HBO series, I May Destroy You. Anticipation is high for the “Black Panther” sequel following the shocking death of the original star, Chadwick Boseman, who died on August 28, 2020, of colon cancer.

3. South Africa: Nasty C features on the Tokyo Olympics official song as the only musician from Africa

It seems that there is just no stopping Nasty C’s mission to become a household name globally. This week, the South African hip-hop heavyweight was named as one of the musicians to feature on the official soundtrack for the Tokyo Olympics. The line-up includes 14 artists from across the globe who have lent their talent to the track titled “Colourful.”

The song is released by Universal Music Japan and its accompanying music video features all of the 14 artists, including Japanese singers Little Glee Monster, Chikuzen Sato, Motohiro Hata, Taemin, a member of South Korean boyband Shinee, American singer Sabrina Carpenter, as well as the South African rapper.

4. Ghana to host Inter Tourism Expo 2021

The Ghanaian Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has revealed that Ghana is ready to host the 2021 edition of the Inter Tourism Expo. The Expo dubbed, “iNTTA2021” on the theme, ‘Optimizing Destination Ghana – our people, brand and culture’ is expected to take place from 28th to 30th September 2021 at the Accra International Conference Centre. According to the Ministry, they are focused on working with various stakeholders to continue to promote and open up Ghana as the indisputable destination for business. The Chief Executive Officer and Convener of the Inter Tourism Expo Accra, Mr Emmanuel Treku in an interview stated that the expo will promote and showcase Ghana as a preferred tourism destination.

The Inter Tourism Expo Accra event is an elite international gathering of leaders in tourism trade, regulation and investment.

5. Brentford sign Nigeria midfielder Frank Onyeka from FC Midtjylland

The football club, Brentford, have made their first Premier League signing by bringing in Frank Onyeka from FC Midtjylland. The 23-year-old Nigerian midfielder has joined the club for £5 million on a five-year deal after receiving a work permit and passing a medical. Onyeka arrived in the UK on Monday and Brentford says he “will now undergo a period of quarantine before joining with the squad for training.”

Brentford ended their 74-year exile from the top flight by beating Swansea 2-0 in the Championship play-off final in May. Onyeka has made one appearance for Nigeria but could be selected for Nigeria for the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts in January 2022.
