Serayah has ended her engagement to Joey Bada$$ after more than three years together, revealing that alleged repeated infidelity led to her decision to walk away from the relationship. The actress and singer announced the breakup on Monday, August 24, in a lengthy Instagram statement, saying she had reached a point where choosing herself was necessary.
The news comes more than a year after the couple welcomed their first child together and just over a year after they appeared to take another major step in their relationship. While Serayah did not share further intimate details, she made clear that the split followed a painful period of confronting what she described as cheating throughout their romance.

In her statement, Serayah said she had made the “difficult decision” to end both her engagement and relationship with Joey Bada$$, the father of her child.
“I loved deeply, believed wholeheartedly in the life we were building, and wanted nothing more than to protect our family,” she wrote.
Serayah said that despite those hopes, she eventually had to confront what she called a “painful truth” about the relationship. According to the actress, there had been repeated infidelity, including during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of her life.
She added that she was not sharing the information to seek sympathy or publicly retaliate against her former partner. Instead, she said she wanted to speak about her experience because women are often encouraged to question themselves when they sense something is wrong.
“If your intuition is telling you something is wrong, listen to it,” Serayah wrote.
Joey Bada$$’ representatives have been contacted for comment regarding the allegations.

The former couple first met in 2021 at a mutual friend’s birthday celebration. Their romance eventually became public after Joey Bada$$ cast Serayah in his 2023 “Show Me” music video.
A few months later, Joey Bada$$ confirmed that they were dating in a social media post celebrating Serayah’s birthday in June 2023. From there, the pair became increasingly visible together, eventually moving into a more serious stage of their relationship.
Their relationship also marked a change in how Joey Bada$$ publicly described his approach to romance. The Brooklyn rapper had previously discussed living a non-monogamous lifestyle, including publicly identifying with polyamory in 2021.
By May 2025, however, Joey Bada$$ said that his perspective had changed after meeting Serayah. During a joint interview with ESSENCE, he explained that becoming more committed and building a life with her had shifted his priorities.
He described himself at the time as monogamous and said that the lifestyle he had previously embraced no longer reflected where he was personally.

For a relationship that had seemingly entered a new chapter through engagement and parenthood, the announcement represents a significant turn.
Serayah, however, emphasized that their son remains her priority despite the end of their romantic relationship.

“Don’t make yourself smaller to keep someone else comfortable,” she wrote, while also warning against compromising personal values out of fear of losing an imagined future.
