A new fourth-quarter format will honour LA Lakers great and five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant.

The authorities in Botswana have announced the first suspected case of coronavirus in the country. The passenger arrived aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight from China, a government statement says. The statement also adds that the individual has been put in isolation while investigations continue.

So far there have been no confirmed cases in Africa. Kenya, Ivory Coast and Ethiopia had announced suspected cases of coronavirus but the results have come back negative.

On Thursday, the authorities in Sudan announced that two people who had visited the Chinese city of Wuhan – the epicentre of the virus outbreak – were under investigation.

3. Lagos okada and keke operators protest against ban

Protesters

Operators of motorbike and tricycle taxis in Nigeria’s largest city, Lagos, are protesting against a state ban coming into effect on Saturday, February 1. The Lagos state government said the ban was needed because of deaths and disorderliness caused by motorbike taxis, locally referred to as “okadas”, and motorised tricycle taxis, known as “keke napeps”.

The ban on the city’s most common forms of transport will be enforced on all major highways and bridges. City official Gbenga Omotoso said on Tuesday that motorbikes will not be allowed in these areas of the city: Ikeja, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, Apapa, Surulere and Eti Osa.

A statement from Lagos state on Friday said the ban was also intended to push young people into finding better jobs because “Okada is not an enduring trade

Our youths no longer learn the trades we used to be proud of – tailoring, bricklaying, printing, painting and others. Now we get artisans from neighbouring countries,” it said.

Nina Onyenobi

It looks like one celebrity wedding we will be talking about in 2020 will be that of former Big Brother Naija housemate, Nina Chinonso Onyenobi.

A fan of the reality TV star took to her Twitter page on Tuesday, January 2020, where she posted a photo of Nina with some ounces of accolades on its caption.

Before I go to bed, let me remember this baby that stepped on Biggie’s stage 2 years ago and stayed the course. She left running, did the right things for her despite some mistakes. I smile because her growth is simply astounding. Keep flying @ninaivy_. You are loved #BBNaija,” she wrote.

Well, it didn’t take long before Nina to respond to the fan who had showered praise on her with a very interesting reply; “Soon to be Mrs ??,” she wrote.

This doesn’t come as a surprise because at the beginning of 2020, Nina revealed that she found love in 2019. The reality TV star made this known via her Twitter page on January 1, 2020, while sharing some of the things she is thankful for.

My best highlight of 2019, to mention but a few, I Found True Love, I achieved what I didn’t Know Was Possible in a short time, I Found a Lifetime Happiness, I know 2020 would be better. Happy new year everyone ♥️,” she tweeted.
