Earlier this month, Nicki Minaj appeared on Instagram Live to tease a then-untitled single from her forthcoming album, “Pink Friday 2.” The pop-esque number contained emotionally charged lyrics about a loved one from the distant past. Nicki Minaj has now officially announced the pending release of said song titled, Last Time I Saw You, which was produced by Hendrix Smoke and ATL Jacob. She also shared a still from a recent photoshoot that many speculate will be the track’s artwork.

Back in June, Minaj took to Twitter to reveal that the sequel to her groundbreaking debut LP, “Pink Friday,” would be arriving on October 20. The NYC star returned to social media to confirm that the aforementioned release date had received a month-long delay. She later announced that the album would be released on November 17.

2. Burna Boy equals Davido’s record on US Apple Music chart

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, has equaled Davido’s record for the highest-peaking African album on the Apple Music United States chart. Davido set the record with his fourth studio album, “Timeless,” which peaked at Number 2 earlier this year. Burna Boy’s new album, “I Told Them,” hit Number 2 on the US Apple Music chart on Saturday, tying Davido’s “Timeless” as the highest-peaking African project in the history of the chart.

Similarly, “I Told Them” became the highest-peaking African project in the European Apple Music Album Chart’s history after debuting at number 2. Burna Boy broke the record he set with his 2022 album, “Love, Damini,” which peaked at Number 3, to achieve the new feat.

Nadia Nakai recently previewed a new single. The rapper took to her timeline to share a video of how the crowd reacted to her upcoming single saying, “Back In.” “I’m a litty situation every time I pull up. And when my DJ dropped my new single Back In I lost it. Can’t wait to drop this banger.”

After taking time off from work to grieve for her partner, Nadia returned to work on March 24 with the support of AKA’s family. Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was shot dead on February 10. His murder is still under investigation. Taking to her social media timeline, the rapper said the love and support she had received from close friends and fans assured her she would be okay.

4. Gymnast Simone Biles makes history, winning record eighth U.S. championship

Simone Biles made history Sunday night. The U.S. gymnast won her record eighth national championship title at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. The win comes 10 years after Biles earned her first national title at age 16. Biles earned a two-day all-around score of 118.40, four points ahead of runner-up Shilese Jones. Leanne Wong came in third.

Biles, who is 26, is now the oldest woman to win a national title in the 60 years since USA Gymnastics organized the event. With Sunday’s win, she surpassed Alfred Jochim, who won seven titles from 1925 to 1933. “I don’t think about numbers,” Biles said. “I think about my performance. And I think overall, I hit 8 for 8. I guess it’s a lucky number this year.” Next up for Biles is the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. Should she move forward to the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, it would mark her third Olympics.

5. Djordje Petrovic completes Chelsea transfer from MLS side New England Revolution

Chelsea have completed the signing of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from the New England Revolution. The Blues announced the capture of Petrovic on Saturday after beating Luton Town 3-0 on Friday evening. The 23-year-old moves after making 48 appearances for the Major League Soccer club. Petrovic will compete with Robert Sanchez for the No. 1 spot at Stamford Bridge after both Edouard Mendy and Kepa were allowed to leave this summer. Chelsea have reportedly agreed to pay an overall package worth £13.5 million ($17m).

Petrovic told the club’s official website: “I’m so happy to be at Chelsea and I’m really excited to get started at this club. It’s a big step for me and it’s always been a dream of mine to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Today I have achieved that goal and I’m so happy. Playing in the Premier League is something I’m really looking forward to doing and I hope to learn many things here at Chelsea. I can’t wait to meet everyone and play at Stamford Bridge.”
