1. Kizz Daniel fills up OVO Arena in a landmark concert

On May 6th, Kizz Daniel took center stage at the prestigious OVO Arena in the UK, delivering an electrifying performance that left his fans in awe. Renowned for his knack for producing chart-topping hits, Kizz Daniel’s concert drew a capacity crowd of 12,000, marking a pinnacle in his history. Since catapulting to fame with the release of  “Woju” in 2014, Kizz Daniel has solidified his position as a titan in Nigerian music, captivating audiences worldwide with his string of successes.

Amidst the pulsating energy of the OVO Arena, Kizz Daniel serenaded his audience with a blend of beloved classics like “Buga,” “Cough,” “Lie,” and “One Ticket,” alongside offerings from his latest EP “TZA (Thankz Alot).” This monumental event not only showcased Kizz Daniel’s musical prowess but also cemented his status alongside other Nigerian luminaries like Adekunle Gold who have graced and conquered the illustrious stage of the OVO Arena.

2. Kendrick Lamar beats Drake to set new Spotify record

Kendrick Lamar’s new diss track has outperformed Drake as their rivalry extends to music streaming. On Tuesday, May 7, ChartData announced that Kendrick’s latest song targeting Drake set a new record for the most streams in one day for a hip-hop song on Spotify in the U.S. The song, “Not Like Us,” got more streams than Drake and Lil Baby’s hit “Girls Like Girls,” which had 6.593 million streams in one day.

So far, “Not Like Us,” released just last week, has amassed 10.986 million streams. The song continues to criticize Drake, accusing him of inappropriate behavior towards young children.

3. South Africa: Cassper Nyovest shares a snippet of his gospel track

Since he became a born-again Christian last December, Cassper Nyovest has hinted at releasing gospel music. On Sunday, he posted a clip online where he sang about Jesus being his hero. He sang, “My Lord and saviour Jesus Christ has been keeping me safe and sound. I have been experiencing peace and more peace abundantly. Life and more life abundantly. I have grown to understand that it’s not about how well I’m performing as a Christian but about how well he lived.”

In March, Cassper previewed a song called “Blessed and Highly Favored,” where he rapped about the positive changes in his life since becoming a Christian. Recently, he mentioned in an interview that he aims to create uplifting music and has recorded several gospel songs.

4. Security guard shot in a drive-by outside of Drake’s home in Toronto

A security guard at Drake’s mansion in Toronto was shot early Tuesday morning outside the house, police reported. Inspector Paul Krawczyk of the Toronto Police’s Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force said the guard was outside the gate at around 2 a.m. when he was shot. The attackers drove away from the scene.

The guard was found with a gunshot wound and is now in the hospital in serious condition, Krawczyk stated. It’s not confirmed if Drake was at home during the attack. Drake’s team is helping with the police investigation, Krawczyk said in a press briefing on Tuesday. Police have also gotten some video footage of the event, he added.

5. Ten Hag is reportedly set to leave Manchester United for another club next season

Recent reports suggest that Erik Ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, might leave Old Trafford soon. After some uncertainty about his future at Manchester United, it now seems likely that the Dutch coach could move on next season. Bayern Munich has considered him for their coaching role since they couldn’t hire former United manager Ralf Rangnick. While Bayern has talked with Ten Hag’s agents, they haven’t yet spoken directly to him.

This uncertainty comes as there’s been little improvement at the club since Ten Hag started two years ago. Although the United owners haven’t decided to fire him yet, they might let him go if they feel changes are needed before next season. Meanwhile, Ten Hag is looking at other possibilities in case United decides to dismiss him in the next few months.
