What a week last week was! We were literally glued to our phone and TV screens to witness the back to back slayage from all around the world. From the red carpet of the Africa Magic Video Choice Awards in Lagos, Nigeria, to that of the annual Black Girls Rock event hosted by BET in New Jersey to the Venice Film Festival, it really was one super fashionable week!
Over in Accra, Ghana, the Glitz Style Awards brought out Ghana’s finest with many serving varying shades of style perfection. While every week of this year has had its fair share of slayage, we can definitely say the looks served last week outranks every other week or at least is somewhere in the top three of 2018; yet we’re still super excited to see what the remaining weeks of this year have in store.
While we understand that fashion and style are subjective, we also understand that there are looks that are universally accepted as fashionable just like Beyoncé is universally considered as an iconic performer and a white tee on jeans ensemble is universally considered casual chic.
In this week’s edition, exceeding our typical magic 10, we have curated 15 of the best of the best of looks served last week on and off red carpets across the world, specially curated for your inspiration. You’ll notice a double appearance by Lady Gaga and Cate Blanchett because we simply couldn’t decide between two of their gorgeous looks.
Relive last week in slay!

One of the original icons of Nollywood, multi award-winning actress Dakore Egbuson-Akande stepped out at the AMVCAs and stole the spotlight with her gorgeous butterfly effect dress which simply had her looking like the belle of the ball.

The ever dramatic Lady Gaga brought fashion and drama to the red carpet of the Venice Film Festival where the premiere of A Star Is Born, which she stars in, took place with this splendid pink feathered Valentino gown.

Ghanaian singer Becca was a golden Ankara goddess for the Glitz Style Awards. She stepped out looking every bit peng as well every bit a contemporary African woman who embraces her Africaness but isn’t afraid to dabble in a little modernity.

Cate Blanchett’s Armani Privé gown perfectly contrasted the red carpet of the Venice Film Festival. The ever stylish Hollywood A-lister looked simply exquisite!

Nigerian screen goddess, Rita Dominic stepped out for the AMVCAs looking absolutely stunning in this Tubo number.

American singer, actress, performer and all-round entertainment icon, Janet Jackson dazzled at the BET’s Black Girls Rock event proving that even after several decades in the industry she is still as stylish as ever.

Ghanaian TV personality, Joselyn Dumas shared this splendid image to celebrate her birthday. Flaunting her enviable curves, she proved that like fine wine, she only gets better by the day!

Fifty Shades of Grey actress, Dakota Johnson was our favorite Lady in Red of the week as she dazzled in this breathtaking dress from luxury fashion house Dior.

Nigerian TV host and media personality, Stephanie Coker definitely knows how to simultaneously take fashion risks, steal the show and slay the day! With this dramatic Style Temple number which she wore to the 2018 AMVCAs, she does all three and we daresay this was the most interesting look of the night.

We can’t help but notice that Lady Gaga has been serving some killer looks lately and we wonder if it has anything to do with the new album she is cooking up or her latest movie – A Star Is Born – but we love all the slay, especially this one which features an Azzedine Alaïa leather coat with a Céline by Hedi Slimane bag.

Ghanaian actress, Zynnell Zuh was concurrently snatching trophies and our hearts in this outfit as she stepped out for the just concluded Glitz Style Awards.

We absolutely dig this very functional and chic dress on English actress Naomi Watts, especially how the hair, shoes and simple accessories all blend perfectly.

Nigerian actress Iyabo Ojo looked like a dream in this piece by stylist and designer extraordinare Tiannah. Her look was undoubtedly one of the best at the just concluded AMVCAs because it was the perfect blend of glamour and elegance.

British model Leomie Anderson is proof that yellow was made for melanin beauties and we are in awe of how her flawless skin pops against this stunning Galvan London gown.

Last but in no way the least, the ever fashionable American actress Cate Blanchett stunned on the red carpet as a monochrome dream once more and easily but subtly outshone everyone else. How can we not stan her?
