Natural Solutions: 5 Powerful Essential Oils For Acne (Pimples) Treatment

How to get rid of acne scar spot prevention style rave

There’s nothing more annoying than waking up to a face full of acne or pimples as my Naija people call it. Like many, you’ve probably tried all sorts of facial cleansers, scrubs, soaps, and creams, but nothing seems to work and you’ve given up –  only to routinely cake up your face with layers of foundation so thick you can feel it falling off your face – sigh.

At the end of the day, when all that makeup gets washed down the drain, the pimples stare right back at you in front of the mirror. Not to worry, all hope is not lost.  In my quest for acne treatments, I found that natural recipes, especially essential oils are the best, not just because they have little to no side effects but because these herbs were actually created to cure our ailments, acne included.

These 5 essential oils are the recipe for acne…

#1. Tea Tree

Tea tree oil is known for its power and antiseptic scent. The chemicals in the oil have been proven to contain antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory agents which make it a strong anti-acne substance. To use, apply regularly on affected skin area using a cotton wool swab. Note that oil is very concentrated and may be harsh on very sensitive skin. Hence, a dilution with another oil such as coconut or olive oils may be necessary.

#2. Oregano

This is a common kitchen spice. Oregano is excellent for getting rid of pimples when used in its essential oil form. The natural antiseptic and antibacterial properties of oregano oil make it excellent for treating spots. Just like tea tree oil, be sure to dilute the oil before applying it directly to your skin. Mix equal parts of both the Oregon oil and another oil – jojoba oil, olive, or coconut oil are recommended choices. Apply the mixture on the acne spot regularly until the skin clears up.

It is medically used to treat burns, sunburn, skin complaints, cold sores, and even insect bites as it has antiseptic and soothing properties.

It is very effective in healing damaged skin. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to incorporate lavender oil into your daily beauty regimen if getting rid of acne is your goal. You would have to either choose a facial wash or moisturizer with lavender essential oil ingredients or prepare your own moisturizer by combining jojoba, almond, or grapeseed oil with lavender essential oil. These blends are also effective in make-up removal.
